I have read @wittyzell's post about her visit to Pokemon shop in Japan, and it reminded me of my visit to Pokemon Village way back in the Christmas season in 2019. I can say that Hong Kong people are among those who love Pokemon. I witnessed before my eyes how teens, even adults, became fond of chasing Pokemons in different spots in Hong Kong when the Pokemon game was still new and trending. I couldn't believe that even old ones were into that game, and would go to the streets early in the morning to find Pokemon. That's how addicted they were. That year, I made a quote, "Where there is a bunch of people tapping phones, there is Pokemon to catch 🤣." Too bad I wasn't into that game, so I didn't feel what it was like to chase Pokemons, and why people were addicted to it.
In the late quarter of 2019, the Pokemon company launched the Pokemon Sword and Shield. Pokemon lovers surely know about this stuff. In celebration of the launching, a Pokemon Village was built in Times Square, Causeway Bay. It was during the Christmas season, so the theme was Pokemon Christmas Village. I shared about this place on another platform before, but I opted to pin this to pinmapple for documentary purposes. This became one of the main attractions among the grand Christmas installations across Hong Kong that year. Hong Kong region is undoubtedly the best place to visit in the festive season as several grand installations would turn the place into a wonderland.
It was during the last week when I visited the village at Times Square. The venue itself is another attraction. Times Square, does it ring the bell? It was named after Times Square, USA. Although the place isn't the same as in the US, this is the most luxurious shopping center and office complex in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. At night is the best time to roam around Causeway Bay.
The village was built in front of Times Square, and each year, the place always has a grand Christmas installation. This Pokemon Village was one of the best. Different cute houses were installed, and inside were different life-size Pokemon statues.
Houses were cozy in Christmas settings with the Pokemon characters. Of course, my favorite one, Pikachu, which is also the most popular Pokemon character, has a cozy yellow house that matched its color. This I guess, was the cutest among all houses.
I doubt there is someone who doesn't know this cute yellow dude. Otherwise, you'll be electrocuted, lol.
Aside from Pikachu, some characters were also there such as Snorlax, Eevee, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and others that I'm not familiar with the name. There were houses that I wasn't able to visit because of the crowd.
I was looking for the cutest Pokemon, Jigglypuff, but it wasn't there. And who can forget Psyduck? This poor duck always gets headaches, probably because of the Team Rocket's hilarious failures, lol. Some would underestimate this character, but it has a strong psychic power.
Meanwhile, the giant among all Pokemon here, Snorlax, was sleeping as always. I saw photos online of other giant statues of popular Pokemon characters inside the shopping center, but I missed that part.
It was such a cute village and kids were those who enjoyed the place the most, of course, the adult Pokemon lovers as well. And for this year, I'm looking forward to seeing another amazing Christmas installation at Times Square.
Happy Humpday to @tattoodjay and to his community. This will be my post for this week's #WednesdayWalk in collaboration with #MakeMeSmile challenge.
Who's Pokemon lovers here? Did you like the Pokemon Christmas Village? ☺️
