A walk around our Home

My wife and I have been going on walks each day for some time now, sometimes during her lunch hour and sometimes in the evenings.

20220502_191650~2.jpg

Last night we went in the evening and caught the sun shining on the wheat field near our home.

20220502_191617~2.jpg

Some people call this time the golden hour. The time when the setting sun basks everything in a golden hue.

20220502_191626~2.jpg

It's really quite beautiful if you can catch it at the right time.

20220502_191824~2.jpg

There was a light evening breeze last night. It moved over the stalks making their tassels sway. It almost made them look like gently flowing water.

20220502_191817~2.jpg

The field reminds me of the scene in the movie Gladiator, when Maximus runs his fingers through the wheat field near his home. You know the scene.

20220421_182741~2.jpg

We pass by several fields on this walk before heading into the forest.

20220415_123511~2.jpg

The next set of photos were taken on different days during our walk and a few weeks ago all of the bluebell flowers were in bloom in the forest.

20220415_123521~2.jpg

They came right after the yellow daffodils and were just as abundant. There were probably millions of them all throughout the forest.

20220415_123526~2.jpg

Unfortunately they are very small and my camera isn't powerful enough to capture them from a distance.

image.jpg

Some areas were completely covered in a blue haze though, which you can almost see in the photo above, though the picture isn't a good representation of it.

20220414_154002~2.jpg

The next few photos were taken in our backyard about three weeks ago. The lilacs and small grass daisy's were just starting to bloom.

20220414_153813~2.jpg

The daisy's are still out there but the lilacs are just about finished at this point. They maybe have a few more days on our bush.

20220420_161328~2.jpg

I picked some from our backyard and put them in water. They lasted about two weeks but have since died, so I ended up tossing them.

20220414_153916~2.jpg

I realized after a few days that lilacs smell great at first when they are picked but then they quickly take on an acrid smell, which is pretty unpleasant. I kept them for the look but actually hated the smell by day four.

20220414_153936~2.jpg

We've been seeing some really cool stuff in the forest lately in terms of wildlife.

20220414_153800~2.jpg

On the Sunday that just passed we heard a crashing in the trees and turned to see three deer bounding through the forest. Two of them crossed the trail a few meters in front of us followed closely by a Sheppard dog chasing after them.

20220414_154025~2.jpg

The dog slipped on the path, got up and turned to go after the third in the other direction. The deer were way too fast for it and I don't think that it would have done anything if it caught them. I think the dog was just having some fun.

20220424_153425~2.jpg

An even cooler sight happened about a month ago. We heard a commotion in the trees but this time it ended up being a family of 6-7 wild boar with babies walking in a line on an adjacent path. They seemed to be on a mission to get somewhere because they were completely unaware at how close we were to them. If that wasn't cool enough, 30 seconds later we saw 4-5 large deer following right behind the boar.

20220414_153837~2.jpg

I had never seen anything like that before and I can only guess that something must have disturbed them to make them behave that way - following behind the boar.

20220414_153922~2.jpg

After they all passed I looked back behind us and watched the horse trail we were walking on and sure enough the boar crossed over it followed directly by the deer. It was super strange but super cool.

20220414_153929~2.jpg

Hunting season had just finished but they must have been spooked to act that way.

20220415_163731~2.jpg

Our walk starts in our small town and I've been taking pictures of the different flowers I see as they come out. These pink trees are super pretty but the flowers have already been replaced by their standard red leaves.

20220427_122226~2.jpg

The wisteria is just starting to come out now and each day the colors get more and more vibrant.

20220427_122232~2.jpg

Wisteria is one of my favorite things about France. Its literally everywhere you go and its always really pretty.

20220423_132551~2.jpg

I think the white and pink flowers are clematis but I'm not exactly sure about that.

20220423_132558~2.jpg

The pink wisteria is a new color for me. It may turn out to be the usual purple but for not it's looking very pink.

20220423_132613~2.jpg

Our hedgehog is back which is exciting.

20220430_222939~2.jpg

We haven't seen it for a while now but it's good to know that it's still around.

20220430_222934~2.jpg

I haven't seen any signs of our boar friend living in our backyard. I suspect that he has moved on and found a new home.

Well thats it for this walk around our home. Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

So beautiful @leaky20 🌸🌼🌻🌾🌱 all those flowers…
The sun just on the fields makes it truly look stunning.
Thanks for showing us.

Yeah the sun at that hour makes the area look really nice.

It sure does @leaky20 😊☀️

Really cool pics bro, love the lushious green. Did you give a name to that little guy?

I also have wisteria at home, it's my all time favorite too! In South Africa they have something similar, Bougainvillier, I don't know if you've heard of it, he also was an explorer if I remember correctly.

My wife names all of our backyard critters...and all of our house plants lol. She called him Nelson or Nelly if its a girl haha. I would have called him hedgy the hedgehog or the more obvious choice of Sonic.

I've never heard of Bougainvillier but apparently there are like 10 different varieties of wisteria and its on almost every continent so it doesn't surprise me that its in South Africa.

OOOh that cute Nelson, it's a bit like Wilson in Castaway...

I had a hedegog visitor when I was a kid in my residence, his name was Sonic.

One day he died rolling down the hill 😲. I buried him in a shoe box. But then being a kid, a few months later I was curious about body decompisition (very heatlhy child I was) and I dug out the box to check my buddy. I must have been grossed out for the rest of my life, because I still remember it up to that day.

That's bougainvillier, or bougainvillea

That would be nasty to see 🤢
Bones are interesting (in general) but decomposition... not so much. Lol

That vine is beautiful. Now I know what its called if I ever see it. Thanks.

i miss seeing the green fields its mostly brown and dry here, thanks for all the photos

its mostly brown and dry here

Yeah? where is that? I mean in general of course. I'm not looking for your address or anything hahaha

very beautiful! 🌼 everything is blooming around.
I love lilac)
Such a cute hedgehog) 🥰

Yeah the hedgehog is really neat. I'm glad it came back this year

wow what a scene created in my eyes from all colors which are purple yellow and brownish clean sand of your village will hope to visit your place soon #thanks dear brother

😁👍

Your bluebells finally came!!! They are gorgeous!

Yep they came and they have already gone now haha

Such delightful-looking photos. I love the look of grass and when I think of "greener pastures" this is what I see :)
The flowers are lovely, and simple things like waking up to a vase with beautiful flowers like that pink once, sets the pace for a positive day filled with gratitude and optimism.

The pastures are definitely green at the moment haha.
Flowers really brighten the day for sure.

😊

Such a lovely walk, the fields all awash with that golden look! It is such a peaceful look to me. I like the path from the wheels, the only real disruption in the field.

I must say that is very strange with the boar and the deer. I am sure I have never seen anything like that, but, like you said, hunting season may have brought that about.

Nature is everywhere here. I love the wisteria, but, only to look at. I have so much of it at my house on the shore, but, it was planted all over by the previous owners an it is truly invasive. I have been trying to tame it for years now. Hanging over the wall? Simply breathtaking. All over my yard? Simply invasive.

Lilacs. So true! I love them but usually leave them because of that. For some reason, they never smell bad outside. Probably punishing us for taking them in. :)

Simply beautiful! Thanks!

it was planted all over by the previous owners an it is truly invasive.

Hmmm that's interesting. Are you sure it's wisteria? I've never heard of it being invasive. I always thought of it as a very slow growing vine...

...Okay I just did some googling and apparently there are 10 different species of wisteria and at least one of them is very fast growing and is reported to be invasive in the US. That must be the one that you have. Interesting.

Woah Amazing

😁

the fields are so green and lush the evening light really brings out there beauty on this beautiful walk
as Much as I love the lush greens the lovely colors of the lilacs and Wisteria are so beautiful

does that Hedgehog visit you every year

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Yeah everything is really green and bright at the moment.

The hedgehog was actually coming around every night for some time or at least a few times per week. But then there was a spell of several months, maybe even close to a year when we didn't see it at all, so we were a bit worried. Maybe they hibernate in the winter, I'm not sure? It's nice to know that it's still around though.

I do love spring the greens well all of natures colors just seem so vivid

Good yo know the hedgehog is ok
We had one that visited our backyard when I was young almost every day then we wouldn’t see it for months and then it would come back

I remember going to the library to find out if they hibernate as back then there was no internet lol

And yes they do hibernate

That makes sense that they hibernate. I'm sure they move on to new areas for food. They probably eat through all of the grubs in one yard fairly quick and need to find a new source.

I think your right graze an area and then move on

What a beautiful view of the church and the village in the distance just gorgeous @leaky20 I love clematis and lilacs, tho here in New England my clematis that climbs our house is just beginning to show it's leaf buds and my lilacs are only now showing their buds and leaves, so We're a bit beind you in that. I love this time of year.

Yeah its a very pretty time of year. I like clematises as well. They come in so many different colors and varieties too!

What a wonderful area you live in! I can imagine a guaranteed full phone storage space if I were to live in a countryside area in France. Wisteria is beautiful and I like how they drape on different surfaces. I don't think I have seen a pink wisteria before. One of my favorites there is the weeping willow tree or saule pleureur.

Yeah I'm not sure if the pink wisteria will stay that color or turn purple in a few days. I'll try to remember to check it again next time we walk by that area. We love weeping willows as well. We have one in our backyard. It's a fairly small one considering how big they can get but its still a really nice tree.

I love the lush green fields and I imagined the Maximus scene :) The lilacs, the wisteria and all are just astonishing and beautiful! You have a wealth of beauty around your home and it's great that you do walks daily.

Yeah the fields are really green right now. Wisteria is my favorite. Such a pretty flowering vine.

Everything is just beautiful where you are :)

What a beauty! I enjoyed your walk, I felt like I was there too.
Reading this post I understood a few things. Common things that explain other things ...

I was passionate about film and I often like images, places or events from movies seen in my current life. Because I saw a lot of French movies from the 70's and 90's, I fell in love with the French lifestyle and the landscape of small towns, even villages. I wanted to live there but obviously I couldn't.

I really like wisteria.

I understand why I like your posts so much, thank you!

There is some amazing nature and natural landscapes out there. The world is full of beauty, especially at this time of year when all of the flowers and trees are starting to bloom.
