The continuation of strolling around the Manila Chinatown.

As I shared a week ago, we explored Binondo along with Hiveph friends.. It was a rainy weekend but it doesn't stop us!

The last post ended with several photos of us walking, but now, as I check, it wasn't the start of strolling around. Instead, that was taken when we were almost done. It started here after eating Mami and dropping by the Hopia store.

The rain thankfully stopped, but the pavement was still drenched. I am glad there is no flood water! One of the figure signs that you are in Chinatown is the Serpent adorned in several posts. Have you seen it?

If not, here is a closer view!

I had several attempts to capture a better photo but failed as the place was a bit congested. Cars parked on the sidewalk are a typical scene here in my country. This has been a problem in some areas as the roads in some villages became crowded because of the vehicles of some residents. I don't know why they bought a car even knowing they don't have a Garage!

Aside from that, there are also several Chinese lanterns. This is my first visit for the year, so I wonder if that was really a part of the decoration or maybe since it's months.

We are going to a store that sells the best fresh lumpia in town. It is an old store that has been operating for a decade. Sadly, it was closed! There are only two reasons: Sunday, which means rest day, or we arrived too early.

That leaves us no choice but to move to the next destination, the fried siopao.

That is @romeskie and I am waiting for our turn; thanks @sensiblecast, for this photo. Matchy-matchy. This could be a lucky day as most of the time, there was a long queue of customers. The last time I was here, we spent almost one hour before we were served. There was no dining as it was only a small store; all orders were for takeout. However, I am telling you it was worth waiting as they serve authentic siopao for only $0.62 per piece! This business has been running since the year 1985. OH, even older than me!

And as they say, the time runs so fast that we've been then for several hours. @demotry couldn't stay with us too long for some personal reasons. That is when we decided to call the day.

*What about the Arroceros forest park as marse Romeskie wanted to check the place. We all agreed to take a train from Carriedo station back to Central, where it was located. At the same time, Demo is going home already.

Before that, we happened to pass by at the Binondo church.

And bagong Maynila (the new Manila)

As the signage says, I agreed somehow. There has been significant progress since the previous Mayor assumed the leadership.

You have a pen knife! The lady guard told me after checking my bag at the train station. Goodness, I forgot to remove it from my bag! So that means that the previous guards I passed by need to do their jobs better.

This is what I had in my bag! Yes, it was indeed sharp, and I always bring this every time. Only if I know I will be passing by a scanner.

I had two choices: surrender it to the guards (confiscated) or take the other route which is Jeep. Of course I chose the latter!

Since Mebu was done buying his ticket, he agreed to meet us at the train station. I and Romeskie started walking, going to the coasted road where Jeep was passing by.

It was a good decision, too, as we got to see the newly rehabilitated Lagusnilad underpass. It used to be stinky, dark, and quite dangerous that no one would like to pass by for safety reasons. You may view old photos here. Thanks to the effort of local government as this is how it looks now since it was opened June this year.

Before, whoever chose to pass by here was indeed in a hurry and quite scared, but now it was the opposite! Passers-by would stop, take photos, and check the LED mural on the wall—no more traces of the old, dirty underpass.

And before our date ended, we strolled around the forest park and rested for a while on the bench. Have chit-chats for a time, 😁.
