The local high school near where I live decided several years ago that they needed a football stadium. The high school has around 3,000 kids that attend, but I was floored at the money that was budgeted for the stadium. It has been years ago, but it was in the millions of dollars. I tried to do a quick search for it, but came up empty.
Because of how much the stadium cost, I have always been intrigued with it. Today, I decided to take a walk near the stadium. There are cows and horses in their pastures less than a mile away. Sometimes the kids will take carrots or apples and go feed them through the fencing.
On the way to the stadium, there is a home that has a cell tower in their yard. The rumor is that they are paid around $5,000 each month just having it on their property. I would host a cell tower for that!
Now back to the stadium. I was able to walk right in because there was just some soccer scrimmages happening. It is good exercise walking up the bleachers also. It always amazes me how tiring walking up stairs can be. I wanted to get up there to take some more pictures though.
You can see the baseball fields from behind the bleachers.
The mountains are a backdrop behind the stadium. It was only in the high 40s when I was out there today, and then sun was just getting ready to set.
That was it for my little walk today that was just for fun and not for exercise. It still amazes me how much money they spent on the stadium when the classrooms are overflowing with kids. Government and budgets, eh?
p.s. I do love High School sports, but it is hard to fathom the amount of money that was dedicated just to this. Also, I have posted a couple times today, but didn't want to miss the Wednesday Walk this week since it slipped by me last week.
