Of course you know by now I have been in Paris, France π«π· Beginning of this beautiful month of July.
As I made 1768 photos, some days more than 500 photos, I continue to only post some highlights per day and when there are too manyβ¦ it will be in 2 parts ππ€© so today I show you the other half of the first day π€ PART 2.
Were you waiting for it? Glad you are joining me again. ππ»
Todays selection will be of 31 photos, were I take you through more off the beaten paths in Paris π and 1 highlight that couldnβt be missed of course π€π Can you guess which major sight it would be?
I think I gave it away already in the beginning of my postβ¦ if you payed attentionβ¦ πΈπΈπΈ hahaha
My Photos are all taken with my iPhone on 1 July 2022
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are walking along with me ππ»ππ»ππ» Through the streets of Romantic Paris π
I again, wonβt post all locations, as we go through many neighbourhoods /districts on our little adventure ~ the entire day was 19km.
So we are at 75% of it by the time we start our first photo today⦠well done you, you are still fresh and eager to walk on!
The first PART you can find here if you missed it:
Walk around Paris ~ highlights of day 1 - Part 1 in Paris, France π«π·
Letβs start our walk for todayβ¦ are you coming with me?
We stopped last time at the Eiffel Tower. You rememberβ¦ we are resting on a little bench. ππ
Letβs jump right upβ¦ and continue.
We are walking now through some back streets when we notice⦠to our right:
The building next to us frames it perfectly. Donβt you think?
Walking further we see great architecture all around us.
And a statue on the roundabout.
This is at Place D'IΓ©na, 16th Arr. (District)
Equestrian Statue of Georges Washington - Statue Γquestre de Georges Washington.
google maps tells us:
Closer look:
After walking this farβ¦ (counting the other 75% of our walk last time) we sure need some drinksβ¦ we deserve some πΉπΉ
So we sit down at this little bar. Let me introduce you to: CafΓ© Valentin.
We ordered some drinks. I had a pineapple juice⦠nice and quite here with good views.
What did you order?
That was refreshing, letβs walk furtherβ¦ come comeβ¦ something beautiful to see everywhere. Donβt miss it.
We see this statue in a little park and a dove just rested on his pointed out armβ¦ funny π
Across the street we see this beautiful house. Look at the details of the façade.
Bare with meβ¦ we need to join the tourists for our highlight of this part 2. So letβs dive right in, and enter one of the busiest areas in Paris. Avenue des Champs-ΓlysΓ©es.
We see large department stores and other interesting buildings.
At the endβ¦ be carefulβ¦ letβs walk in the middle of the street. On a little stretch, between cars driving by, we can take a few photos.
Waiting nicely in the line to go all the way in frontβ¦
We can take some zoomed in photos.
I present to you the: Arc de Triomphe
And itβs detailsβ¦
Do you see the people on top?
Yes, you can enter the Arc. Did you know?
The other sideβ¦
Going downβ¦ we are still waiting in the line hahaha π€£ almostβ¦ we can stand in front of the ones behind us ππ€
Yes, we did it. Letβs take it all in.
Maybe you see it, maybe you donβt. But my photos are from all the way down ππ€πΈ Giving you another perspective!
Ok okβ¦ yes, I agree. It is getting busyβ¦ people being people and start to shovel to the front and pushingβ¦ letβs escape now. We cross the road to safety on the sidewalk. We made it.
Next to usβ¦ we see more details. Did you see them? The light polesβ¦ and the #LIONS π¦
I did π
I took the following photos of a few different light poles with different backdropsβ¦
The Arc de Triomphe and the #Lion π¦
And another viewβ¦
Yesβ¦ locks π have gathered here too.
Let me share with you a bit more about this beautiful monument. A girl scooted right by usβ¦
More information you Find in Wikipedia here!
It states:
βThe Arc de Triomphe de l'Γtoile is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-ΓlysΓ©es at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Γtoileβthe Γ©toile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The location of the arc and the plaza is shared between three arrondissements, 16th (south and west), 17th (north), and 8th (east). The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
The Arc de Triomphe- It was commissioned in 1806, after the victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon at the peak of his fortunes. Laying the foundations alone took two years and, in 1810, when Napoleon entered Paris from the west with his new bride, Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria, he had a wooden mock-up of the completed arch constructed. The architect, Jean Chalgrin, died in 1811 and the work was taken over by Jean-Nicolas Huyot.
During the Bourbon Restoration, construction was halted, and it would not be completed until the reign of King Louis-Philippe, between 1833 and 1836, by the architects Goust, then Huyot, under the direction of HΓ©ricart de Thury.
Access:
The Arc de Triomphe is accessible by the RER and MΓ©tro, with exit at the Charles de GaulleβΓtoile station. Because of heavy traffic on the roundabout of which the Arc is the centre, it is recommended that pedestrians use one of two underpasses located at the Champs ΓlysΓ©es and the Avenue de la Grande ArmΓ©e. A lift will take visitors almost to the top β to the attic, where there is a small museum which contains large models of the Arc and tells its story from the time of its construction. Another 40 steps remain to climb in order to reach the top, the terrasse, from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Paris.β
No, we didnβt go up. We just decided letβs go away from the masses.
Walking side roads we discover this workers vanβs π trailer.
It was covered in a beautiful graffiti.
How cool π is that!
As we walk further we discover this unusual house. It so looks out of place. But at the same time⦠wow⦠why not. Love to discover different things. And I know you do too. This was in the 8th Arr. (District)
We decide to wait until the delivery van drives away.
To take this photograph πΈ
A little bit further⦠we this this stunning gate. With lots of trees behind it.
In the back ground we see Gare St. Lazare. A train station.
Walking towards a crossing we see this Mc Donaldβs buildingβ¦ take a closer look!
Look at all the details, the statue and the stork on the chimney. Very interesting π€ quirkyβ¦
After crossing roads and walking over the square of the train station. We see these clocks β°
Walking back towards our Hotel, we stop at this cafΓ© on Rue de Maubeuge, Paris
We are getting Cappuccinos βοΈβοΈβοΈ Are you joining in?
Letβs rest nowβ¦ we deserve it.
And thatβs all for today! Stay tuned for more Paris related content ππ»ππ Until next time π
