Happy Wednesday Everyone!
I went to visit my friend yesterday. He had been out of town for quite a while. He returned some weeks back and due to my busy schedule I didn't have time to go visit and he couldn't come see me either, not even during weekends because where I work is quite far away from the heart of town where I live. So it's been a promise and failed all along. But thankfully, I had a day off, but that was on Tuesday so I decided to visit him. My phone battery was already down by the time I left my place.
I haven't been to his location for a while, I was wowed at the magnificent work of art going on at this flyover at Atiku Abubakar road, Uyo. Akwa Ibom State. (I reside in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria)
I took the first pictures while riding in a tricycle. So I couldn't get a proper perspective.
I had to go to the location again in the evening to take more shots en route to see my mom.
The artwork is beautifully done. Paintings depicting the various cultural heritage of the Akwa Ibom people are displayed on every pillar of the bridge.
Although work is still ongoing, one side of the bridge is halfway completed and people are already making use of it for various photo and video shoots or for fun and weekend hangouts.
This is one of the initiatives of the present administration’s Arise Agenda geared towards making Akwa Ibom a tourist attraction this coming Christmas.
I wanted to take that route to work this morning but since I wasn't going to be walking so...
It could have been MY WEDNESDAY RIDE. 😂
Akwa Ibom is a place to visit if you're visiting Nigeria, either for the first time or even if you've been here before. Don’t fail to come. You will love it here.
Akwa Ibom also boasts to be one of the cleanest states in Nigeria. We are peace-loving and accommodating people.
These are just emergency shots of this beautiful work. I hope to get a full perspective next time, hopefully when the work is complete and bubbling with people and activities.
