We are still walking

in #hive-155530yesterday

Protests in my country continues. More and more cities are included. Number of places is now 153 (out of 174 municipality and cities). My little town already joined in support of educators and students, but there was the biggest gathering so far on Monday, which happens to be the celebration of school Saint, Saint Sava. This time of the year, celebration of most of the schools was much different, instead of inside with program all day, it was celebrated on the streets. On that day, there was huge 24h blockade of one of auto command in the capital. In my town, gathering took about an hour.

First everyone was together in the city center, where we silently pay respects to the victims for 15 minutes (one minute for every victim), and then there was a walk around city, and we were back to the center to sigh support for educators who support students (because they were already threatened with dismissal or no payment). A though about those 15 minutes gives me goose bumps every time. Just imagine 15 minutes of silence, older, younger, kids, all silently standing.

My city is small, so this amount of people is actually a lot, but I have to say we had support from neighbor city, and about 20 people came here to walk with us. It was surprising to me, and of course they were welcomed warmly.

People signing support for edicators in strike:

Every time I am on the protests, it brings a lot of feelings in me. It's hard to describe it all. I am not in the capital now, but I have to admire those who fight there day after day. Just imagine those people who are there day after day, week after week, month after month, standing each day for 15 minutes, and also having many protest walks in these winter days, when temperatures weren't that high at all. Just imagine that sacrifice. Hope it will not be all for nothing.
Here are the photos from the walk.

Prime minister resigned yesterday, but that doesn't change much. Students never asked no one to resign, just for those who are guilty, answer for their actions in front of the law.

I also want to share and translate some of the banners that I was able to take photo of:

"Along with the students, all the experts of preschool institutions in Serbia"

"It rang your bell"

"They muddy our waters and blame us for the flood"

"Don't lie to my grandma"
"Ćaci wanted to go back to school" (they made sign that kids should go to school but wrote it incorrectly, instead of "djaci" they wrote "ćaci", showing how illiterate they are, and they should go back to school, so many people made banners about this)

"In memory if Dona, dog that was ran over during protests"

"Everything is known, both the crime and the punishment "

"I will not be silent"

...and my favourite one...

"Never fear, love is stronger"
(healed by some adorable girls)

During my walk, I saw many people, many people tired of life in corruption, fear, uncertainty, suspense... But also same those people had hope in them, had will to fight for little longer, and strenght not to give up, not just yet. And they had love in them. And as sign said, love is stronger.

Don't mind some blurry and bad photos, it was night time and a lot of moving.
All photos are taken using Samsung S20 and Pixel 8 phones.
