There's something special about riverside walks. They are more relaxing and refreshing, heal our minds, give us hope, and bring a new perspective—at least to me!
Whether the river is beside a big city inside the jungle or even in a very remote area; the river always feels refreshing. In my hometown there's a river called Tista that has a small channel named Ghaghot; I could sit on those riverbanks for hours. And I did back when I used to live there.
Fortunately, I now live close to this area of the Turag River, where we sometimes go for a walk.
This is not a giant river but it has depth. Many small ships and boats sail there day and night. It only takes 5-7 minutes by boat to cross the river.
As you can see the opposite side of the river is very green so people like to go there to escape this hustle and bustle of city life.
This area is called the Mohammadpur Beribadh aka River embankment area of Mohammadpur. The whole riverside has this walkway that works as an embankment to protect the city from flood and erosion control.
We usually walk on this path for hours, it feels like infinite as I have never managed to finish or even go halfway through this walkway. Then sometimes we come back sometimes we take another street from there to come back home.
The best thing about this place is watching the lifestyle over there. I love seeing the boats and the ships carrying different things. Sometimes they anchor on the riverbank and the workers do their things like cleaning, preparing the ships, etc.
I have encountered the river dredging work this time. People were curiously watching the massive machine drag the waste and soil out of the river.
I have shared about this place earlier in a post, you can see Here. The place is near the city, just a 5-minute walk but it feels like a perfect escape from the city. The wide blue sky without highrises, the greenery, the beautiful flow of the river; everything seems so refreshing.
It's a place where I wouldn't mind going again and again.
