Wednesday Walk Slocum River reserve
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)
Todays walk is one I took recently, around 8Am on a day where it was foggy and overcast so I skipped heading out for a sunrise walk, and this day I visited the Slocum River Reserve
there is a small car Park at the entrance to this trail, many of the other trails around here do not have parking and you have to park on the side of the road, and some of the entrances including this one have only small signs back from the road so there easy to miss if your not looking for them.

its a beautiful area for a hike,
The Slocum’s River Reserve, which protects more than 3,000 feet of frontage along the Slocum’s River, includes mature woodlands, agricultural fields, and pastures that slope down to the western bank of the Slocum’s River. The Reserve has 2 miles of walking trails and is jointly owned and managed by the Trustees of Reservations and Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust.

A little bit about the DNRT
This reserve is one managed by the Dartmouth Natural Resources trust, a group that formed back in 1971 when a group of residents banded together to try and protect the Star of the sea Property and has slowly grown to managed many trails around Dartmouth.
MISSION
To preserve and protect Dartmouth’s natural resources for people and nature, forever.
How We Work
DNRT works to accomplish its mission by:
Land Acquisition and Protection. Identifying and preserving important wildlife habitats, farmlands, historic sites, wetlands, and open spaces in Dartmouth by purchasing or accepting donations of land and conservation restrictions.
Land Management. Protecting our lands through stewardship practices based in science and designed to maintain the working landscape and enhance biodiversity and healthy ecological systems while encouraging public access.
Outreach. Educating and engaging all sectors of the community to ensure the long-term support for natural resource conservation and stewardship.
Partnerships. Collaborating with other organizations to accomplish our land conservation, land management, and outreach goals.
Further along the walk in, I love when I come across these old stone walls

As you can see the morning i took this walk it was foggy and overcast, perhaps not ideal for taking photos, but the fresh air and smells of nature was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed this walk.
Along the trail I saw a view of the river through the trees

The rain earlier and the misty fog made the greens really rich which I did love on this walk

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.
