Wednesday Walk walking out by and on Palmers Island
Let me start this post with an apology I normally make it a point ov visiting and commenting on every post in the Wednesday Walk community or using the Wednesdaywalk tag, but I was not able to do so this past week, but I should be able to this coming week.
I had some health issues this past week that knocked me down for a bit as I prepare this post I am feeling a little better my energy levels seem to be picking up but i still need to take it easy at least till I have follow up appointments with the Doctors tomorrow.
I did this morning think about trying to visit all the posts from this past week but i suspect I would run out of energy before getting tot hem all, so I decided its fairer to miss them all rather than commenting on some and not others.
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)
For this walk post I was fortunate to have some shots from a walkI took last monday beside the Hurricane Barrier wall and heading out to Palmers Island

This island was discovered before the arrival of the pilgrims, English explorer Bartholomew Gosnold first surveyed the 6-acre island during his exploration of New Bedford Harbor in 1602.
the Island was named after William Palmer an early Old Dartmouth settler
The Island was used as an internment camp for Native Americans during the war of King Phillip around 1675, and later as a garrison during the Revolutionary war.
And then in the 19th Century a Hotel and an amusement park were built there, so the island has a very interesting history.
Sadly during the 1938 Hurricane all the structures on the island were washed away.
Her eis a shot of the island as I was walking towards it

And as I walked over the little sand spit towards the island,

As I started to walk around the island I realized I had missed low tide as I normally walk around this rock wall seen in the next shot to the other side of the island, but there was no dry beach to walk on around it

So my walk on the island was shorter than planned heading back tot he spot I crossed onto the island, you may notice a couple of other people on the top of the rocky platform in the next shot

So I crossed over back off the island and took this shot looking back at it,

I continued to the end of the this side of the Hurricane Barrier wall, where there is this building which controls the gate that closes between the New Bedford and Fairhaven sides of the Hurricane Barrier walls.

I mentioned above about the tide coming in this last shot shows the little sand bar that becomes visible and allowing walking to the island with dry feet at low tide, When I first got the island it was completly dry, and just a few minutes later you could see the water rising over it

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.
