Hi Hivers,
I am glad to share with you a white and refreshing story for the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.
What a miracle. Yesterday finally it started to snow and everything turned white. And what a better opportunity to walk and take a few pictures to share with you:)
Last week I did my walk in the park nearby and the weather was more spring-like, the colors more appropriate to autumn - yellow, orange, and brown. With temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius and bright sunshine, I had little hope of seeing snow in South-East Bulgaria. You can check the story from last Wednesday in my blog.
And when I was totally desperate that this winter would pass without snow, yesterday everything has turned white. Оh, how beautiful is nature now. And what a better opportunity to relieve my soul of the depression of gloomy weather and rain.
I decided to pop over to the neighboring city of Haskovo and to climb the highest point and city landmark - The monument of the Holy Mother of God. This is also the place from where, in clear weather, almost the whole city can be seen. I put on my thickest clothes, my tallest shoes, took a warm hat (still no need for gloves), grabbed my camera, and left excited.
I parked my car at the lowest point of the city center and started the climb up the stairs. The walk in the snow was cold and wet, but very energizing. The only trickier thing was taking pictures without getting the camera lens wet. I had to wipe it down a few times, but my efforts produced a very nice result.
The falling snowflakes were gentle, soft, and pleasant. The gloomy city turned white and everything became so beautiful. The chimneys were smoking, or at least the ones that were still on solid fuel. Now I'm thinking how much I miss the scent of burnt wood. Some might say smell or stink, but for me, it is a pleasant scent that will always remind me of the village of my grandparents where I grew up.
I walked carefully on the whitened stairs. The only thing I wanted was to feel the snow on my face and breathe in the fresh air that felt like it had been cleared of the dust of city traffic.
I hope you will enjoy my two hours walk as much as I enjoyed it.
And the white dots on some pictures are not dust or spots, but falling snowflakes :)
❤️I set this post to 100% Hive Power❤️
