In today's Wednesday walk I will tell you about wonderful autumn forest of Sredna Stara planina. With my friends @deska89, @fog043 and Itso, we were in the Elenovordish part of the Balkan and we enjoyed walking through the forest and exploring the natural treasures.
The stones we saw in the forest, besides having beautiful shapes, were covered with fresh, green moss.
There were mosses on the trees too.
We were finding interesting mushrooms.
And these mushrooms, they were among the fallen leaves and they were very miniature.
Our stop was at the "Haidushka Polyana". A huge green meadow radiated peace and tranquility, surrounded by tall beech and oak trees.
The place is full of wooden benches and tables, fireplaces and a small shelter.
From the stone memorial plaque, we learn that during the Turkish slavery, the Hajdush troops camped here.
Тhe plaque was installed in 1968 and inscribed with the names of the outlaws who found shelter in this place high in the mountains.
"During the War of Independence (spring of 1877) the Tvardishka detachment of voivode Simeon Stoykov was established around "Hajdushka Polyana". The detachment provided the Russian command with valuable data on the movement of the Turkish army and assisted the passage of parts of the Russian army through the Tvardish Pass in the winter of 1877/78."
Every year, a meeting is held at this place, where the generations show respect and adoration for the fallen heroes and affection to the ancestral root.
