My today's Wednesday walk is from the Bulgarian village Byala Voda.
The village is located in the Strandzha mountain and is very interesting and attractive with the atmosphere you immerse yourself in while walking between the small streets.
The houses are authentic architecture. There are those that are abandoned, but there are also many that are renovated and maintained.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the village in the month of August is so lively and almost all the farmers are in their homes.
My walk coincided with watering time for the gardens (late afternoon when the sun was no longer so strong) and it was nice to see how many people were tending to their gardens and beehives. An elderly man shared with a sigh, "It has to be watered every day. It's a big drought."
I have been to the village several times, but I had never visited the Holy Trinity Chapel before. I came across it while walking down one of the alleys and an old man told me about it.
The yard was full of wooden tables and benches. There was tall grass all around and it was obvious that the place had not been visited recently.
The wooden door of the chapel was closed with a wooden latch that was easily opened. From inside it smelled of calmness and peace.
I continued my walk towards the center of the village, where around the main square are the church of "Saint Dimitar" and the town hall of the village.
The views of the beautiful Strandzha from here are truly wonderful.
