I am @wizj and its been quite a while I come around here due to some uncontrollable factors. I wish you all understand with me and accept me back🙏🙏🙏
Today being Sunday, I decided to visit the CATHOLIC MAJOR SEMINARY.
In this case, it was Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan Nigeria.
The Seminary is a sacred and hallowed ground that has young vibrant, competent, intelligent, disciplined and dedicated men who chose to undergo without compulsion the training to the sacred Catholic Priesthood.
Here in Nigeria, the training of these young men to the priesthood takes a period of Ten(10) good years. With rigorous studies about virtually everything in life.
The first four(4) years has the study of PHILOSOPHY where these men are taught distinctive ways and methods to rationalised, scrutinise, analyse and make concrete assertion about the world and what that dwells therein. They learned about man and his environment, about nature, about reality, about God himself and the source through which all things comes forth. However at the end of this four years. They're are pronounced PHILOSOPHER KINGS following the assertion of PLATO who remarked that PHILOSOPHERS ARE KINGS
So, today was the thanksgiving Mass in honor of these young handsome men who have successfully completed their first four years in philosophy in the seminary.
It isn't the end. They shall begin a new formative year of six(6) years again to complete the stipulated Ten(10) years study before ordination to the priesthood.
You can see how happy they're, expressing their thankfulness to God during the mass together with their Priests' Formators and Lecturers as they recessed from the Sanctuary.
It was indeed a wonderful experience. Very importantly, these men are really making huge sacrifice of themselves by deciding to wholly dedicate themselves to the service of God and to man.
Today also being the TRINITY SUNDAY, the GOD the Father who creates and GOD the son who redeems and GOD the Holy Spirit who sanctifies always kept watch over them to this stage.
The four walls of the Seminary is not a joke and I often hear from those there saying that
"*If you can survive a day in the seminary it means you're a strong fellow"
By this statement, it already depict that it is not an easy or a playful environment. It is rather a place for seriousness and focus.
Nevertheless, these men were joyful and you could easily see their happiness burning out as they dance and jubilate during thanksgiving.
Today was awesome as I also witness these brothers smile, danced and thank God who kept them thus far on the journey.
The journey of a thousand Mile indeed they say "begins with a step" and the one step these brothers made four years ago has ended in praise today while they look forward commending into God's hands the remaining years to push it to full completion.
What joy would it be other than seeing them become what they wished for. Its marvellous in God's eyes that they succeed.
How happy these brothers are💃🤸🤸♀️🤸
This experience today wad remarkable and I'm glad I obliged while I was invited to attend; and I tell you'll I've not any regret whatsoever going for mass there today.
I remain a CATHOLIC FOR LIFE
Thank you all and hope you have a good time around here.
Sunday blessings to you all. AMEN🙏
