Let's take a break. I badly need it, not for you but for myself. Before the next portion of Banksy and the context, I had to pick up the pieces. A walk is a cure for depression. Let's forget about all the sorrow and pain for a moment, and just walk together around my city.
It's a nice sunny day today, good weather for taking pictures. But today I'm going to White Cemetery, to put my colleague to rest. He is originally from Luhansk, but in 2014 he had to leave his home with his wife and daughter and start all over again in Kyiv, without friends and family. His colleagues were his only friends here, and we supported him. He died on Saturday.🥺 See, the past Saturday wasn't the worst day for me.
Alright. Today I will not overload you with the latest news and updates. Just a walk.
This is the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. On September 3, 2021, there was a big fire. It badly damaged the unique organ, and the building itself.
In Soviet times, the building was closed and used as office premises, and on the towers of the church hung antennas of the supression system of the "enemy's" radio signal.
Since the early 1980s, the building has been transformed into a National House of Organ and Chamber Music, and a well-known Czech company Rieger-Kloss was ordered for it.
Smile!🙂
This Christmas village stood here all year long from the last Christmas. It was simply closed and left as is.
The entrance of Kyiv River Port.
And the square near it.
Dnipro River embankment
Podil district. It's name has an ancient meaning "bottom". Kyiv is situated on hills, and here the usually high right bank is reduced to the river.
St Andrew's Church stands on the top of the hill and is visible from all parts of the district. Looks like it stands on the roofs of buildings.
This ugly construction expands up. Isn't it?
Oh, look at this. The edge of this house was bent. I have never seen that. But it's still inhabited.
Podil is an old area. It was rebuilt after a big fire in 1811. After it, they started to use bricks not wood. But all around, these buildings needs some serious reparing, not just a make-up.
An old chimney.
I don't remember this tower. Looks like a fire tower or a town hall.
Eventually, something fun for the end of our walk.
THE END.
Many thanks to @tattoodjay for hosting this wonderful challenge. My favorite.
Appreciate the life, and take care!
