Greetings, fellow art enthusiasts! I hope you're all enjoying a fantastic weekend. Today, I proudly created an abstract landscape utilizing coffee powder as my medium. I encourage you to take a look and share your thoughts!
Abstract landscape painting is a unique style where the artist moves beyond depicting specific, recognizable landscapes. Instead, we harness shapes, lines, textures, and even colors to evoke the essence and atmosphere of a landscape.
For this piece, I employed three different brushes, and it took me about an hour to complete. For those ready to explore this medium, I will be sharing some essential methods below.
Materials Needed:
š Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
š Pencil and Eraser
š Coffee Powder
š 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
š Ruler
š Clean Water
š Rag
š Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
š Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
š Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
š Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
ā¢ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
ā¢ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
ā¢ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
ā¢ The same procedure with the foreground.
ā¢ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
ā¢ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
