Diana Waterfoot's mind was racing as she stood in the Post office holding her bag for marketing day. Lucy, the post mistress, had just handed her a letter post marked from England. What could it be?

The Sketch of Diana before color is added.

I'm afraid Diana's story is only a few words scribbled in the margins of my drawing journal. But, I do know she is of my New England characters and I think she'll be a distant cousins of Lady Sybil Soft-Pelt (whose story you can read here).

I've been sketching out a charcter list for my New England creatures and I'm trying to work out a seagull and blue heron just now. I'm thinking Diana's link via her cousin in England can be the tie for the two collections of characters.

I'm still having fun with them and I might need to make a 'Family tree' of them all on my studio wall soon, to keep them all straight. Just now I'm enjoying just creating endless creatures, but I might want, this Summer, to place them in little vignettes, at tables in gardens or in drawing rooms etc.

I hope you're still enjoying them and I hope you get a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions, whatever they might be.

Diana is beautiful, I think it will be a very tender family tree, I would also have it on my table and wall.
