Good morning! It is the weekend and raining. I am yet again sluggish and the magnet of the bed is pulling me back to my sheets. I stayed on the bed for 15 mins right after I woke up. I ended up on Tiktok scrolling Ghibli stuff. 😆 And then I remembered I have unfinished art just sitting for a month now in my Unfinished Art folder. After eating, I opened the file and started coloring it. 😅
Art Process
Have you ever caught yourself daydreaming? Is it a bad thing, though? I usually daydream when I am in my creative zone. I caught myself looking at the ceiling. 😆 In the first frame, I drew a girl looking outside through a window. Her palm is on her chin and a little bit of slouching posture. posture check! I thought the window is a lot of work so I switched the scenario in a room. The elbow is resting to a pillow and I will put some lighting on the background later on.
I like solid and thin lines lately. This is perhaps influenced by too much watching of Ghibli movies. 🥰 I first did the eyes. Same as those of Ghibli eyes, simple! Next is the flat color. I chose a darker shade for the skin color because later on, I will apply lights on the face and neck. The same goes for clothing and hair. I put stars as the design of the jammies. ⭐️ The background is a simple brown and green color.
I'm torn between brush and cell shading. One day I like brush shading and a few days later, I will switch back to cell shading. 😩 I grew up watching anime that is maybe the reason why I cannot let go of cell shading. I also find it straightforward and neat. I added shading on the hair and skin using multiply. Other artists do not use multiply and just choose a darker shade of the base color. I put just a touch of blush on the cheeks and nose.
Final Art
I added the glows on the body and background. I thought of putting those dust particles. hehe.
