Today I want to show you a painting I made from December 2023 until March 2024. Inspired from the beautiful lower side of the Daedalea quercina Mushroom I found one day (and some Stereum fungi), I decided to combine its cool pattern with a human portrait.
Heute möchte ich euch ein Bild zeigen, das ich von Dezember 2023 bis März 2024 gemalt habe. Inspiriert von der wunderschönen Unterseite des Eichenwirrlings Daedalea quercina, den ich mal gefunden hatte (und einiger Schichtpilze-Pilze), habe ich beschlossen, sein cooles Muster mit einem menschlichen Porträt zu kombinieren.

I started with the outlines in pencil and put some effort into the details :)
Ich habe mit Bleistift mit den Konturen begonnen und mir einige Mühe mit den Details gegeben :)

It was pretty hard to make a decision regarding colors. I was not too happy at first, but I had a specific frame in mind, so I went in this direction... I painted the picture with my usual watercolors.
Es fiel mir ziemlich schwer, eine Entscheidung hinsichtlich der Farben zu treffen. Ich war im ersten Moment nicht allzu glücklich, aber ich hatte einen bestimmten Rahmen vor Augen, also ging ich in diese Richtung... Ich habe das Bild mit meinen üblichen Wasserfarben gemalt.

Trying on the frame. My heart bled as I cut off large sections to fit the picture into the shape, but now I think it was worth it.
Anprobe des Rahmens. Mir blutete das Herz, als ich große Teile abgeschnitten habe, um das Bild in die Form einzupassen, aber inzwischen denke ich, dass es sich gelohnt hat.

The finished painting. I'm not 100% happy with the result, but I think it was a good exercise and meditative activity. And I hope you like it anyway!
Das fertige Bild. Ich bin mit dem Ergebnis nicht hundertprozentig zufrieden, aber ich denke, es war eine gute Übung und meditative Aktivität. Und ich hoffe es gefällt euch trotzdem!
