You listen to Plastic Man and you assume that he is the sidekick, the comedic relief.
And then, you do not realize that he is full, top tier, A list, super powered being.

All that thing about Baitman and the 8 armed wonder, was just because that is the way he thinks. He was never in any danger, so he could put all focus into clowning around.
