I saw this Creature in my dream so, I decided to paint it.

This portrait was inspired by a dream I had 2 years ago. Infact, the very creature you see in this picture now, is distinctly, the exact image of the malevolent entity that once haunted my dreams.

"For the past 3 consecutive nights, I had experienced different lucid nightmares all of which ended with me standing alone in a dark room right in front of a very abnormal looking girl. Horrifyingly, the dream would always end with the girl raising her head and showing me her distorted looking face. And, upon me shrieking in fear, I would awake back in my bed sweating, shaking, and even crying. But little did I know that the next dream that was to become, would be the most frightening and disturbing of all of them..."

-Zeraton

I felt a tingle in my spine. It was the same old jolt of fear and electricity I had felt last night and so, I knew I would be dreaming of the creature again. It had always been the same for the past three nights, so why should this night be any different?

Cautiously, I got into my bed. Nervously, I prayed to that God in the sky to help me with my agony. And dreadfully, I closed my eyes to slumber. Then, the nightmare began.

This time, it seemed to have started the same way it always ended – in a dark room with an unsettling figure standing before me. In reality, however, I stood at the top of the stairs. The figure stood at the bottom, but it didn’t matter because the entity already had me in sight. She appeared as a little girl: short, thin and covered in a white worn out dress.. Her hair fell freely as did the blood that dripped from her sharp unkept nails. Her eyes held no mercy, no humanity. And her face was twisted into something unnatural, almost demonic.

As she turned to face me, she grinned viciously showing off yet another distorted face of hers. In my heart, I screamed, but I didn’t make any sound or movement towards her. I just watched as she slowly crept closer. Then suddenly, when she got as close three feet away from me, she stopped. Soon my knees went weak as she leaned forward.

The smell of her rotting flesh invaded my senses. Her breath made my nose tingle and I could feel sweat begin to trickle down my temple and along my upper lip, dripping from my chin onto the floor. I couldn’t look away and kept my mouth shut as I tried my best not to whimper or cry. And still, I remained silent when suddenly, she pulled away.

The sudden release of pressure on my chest left me breathing heavily. Her eyes narrowed at me and I looked up to meet her gaze. She raised her arm up, preparing to strike me with her bloody hand once more. My stomach churned at the thought and I found myself unable to move. And still, I waited. This was exactly how it had been every time I saw the monster in my dreams; it took me back to those terrible moments. Every single time, like clockwork, I found myself helpless.

Dear God, I wanted to call out for help; I wanted someone to come and save me! Alas, no one came. Certainly, I knew it wasn't real and that they would surely never appear here. Still, all I wanted was for someone to save me; to save me from this hellish nightmare.

Suddenly, a loud crash broke me free from my trance. It seemed like some invisible force pushed against my mind and forced me to look around. It was a strange feeling; like someone had slammed my head against a wall until my vision swam.
Everything around me seemed so distorted and out of place. The walls appeared to have melted like ice cream and the ceiling to have caved in. The only thing left behind were dust particles and the occasional light bulb that flickered in an attempt to stay lit. But most importantly, there was a small boy standing near me; his face was contorted in shock, his eyes wide as saucers and his lips pressed together into a thin line.

A tear then trailed down the boy's freckled cheek as he began trembling like a leaf. He looked like he wanted to say something but instead, he let out a yelp and jumped backwards. I followed his path by stumbling slightly and fell into the broken pieces of a large mirror lying on the floor. It shattered upon impact and fell to pieces around my feet.

A wave of cold then swept over me. It was a strange sensation that made my hairs stand on end. The air itself seemed to be chilling, like icicles had frozen over the entire building. I looked around me, trying to see where the temperature could possibly have risen. Just as I thought I could spot it, the temperature suddenly dropped down ten degrees. My throat tightened at the prospect of having to endure the freezing temperature and as I tried making out sights from all the dew that filled the room, I saw, yet again, the same boy standing in front of me and staring in terror. He then opened his mouth to speak, but whatever he wanted to say, I could not hear him. Not without hearing myself.

"I can't hear you! Look, leave now. That creature's gonna be back any second now." I yelled, suddenly gaining the realization that I was, infact, in a dream! Alas, this did not change the very bizarre incident that was to happen next:

"I said... I said I'm not afraid! Just very sad." the boy muttered as watched in terror, the silhouette of the same old demon girl, emerge from right behind the boy. Argh, the same sickening grin spread across her face once again as she reached for the neck of the little boy and began squeezing it tightly.

"Don't worry, dearie, I'll take care of you." She gloated.

Then, as if on cue, a wave of energy passed through my body; it felt like thousands of needles pricking into my skin. Soon, a harsh yet warm sensation gripped my neck and with each agonizing grip the creature laid on the boys neck, there was a somewhat form of reciprocation on my own part.

Soon enough, the pain became too much to bear and, despite wanting to stop myself, tears began forming in my eyes. I could feel my pulse pounding wildly inside my chest as if it wanted to escape. I couldn't stop it; I couldn't even scream. All I could do was wait for the pain to pass. It seemed to stretch forever as we both struggled against our fate, neither one being strong enough to win. Finally, the battle was over and I fell to the floor. There I watched in horror too, as the boy's lifeless body fell from the hands of that horrifying creature. Then, again I watched as the entity changed its face back to that same old distorted form it had shown to me earlier. And soon, everything went blank again and I woke up.

Author's Note:

Till this very day, I am not exactly sure what that dream, and all the other 3 dreams before it, meant. But all I know is that: for 4 consecutive nights, I had distinctly horrifying lucid nightmares. Each always ending with the same creature showing me a distorted face of it.

In this portrait, I have taken the liberty of painting each frame(each distorted face) that I saw of the creature during the 4 day dream span. Then, I placed the images together into a gif so you may see all the faces together in one frame.

Tell me though my friends, what do you make of this?
