Dear chess fans,
the third round of S12 was played yesterday as a 4+2 arena tournament. 21 players were participating with an average rating of 1873 - the highest so far in S12. Welcome back @b0s and @petreius to the tour!
This time @jaki01 could end up as winner. He was able to win all his games, except the one against myself, where I could flag him 😁. Runner-up was @pamboy27 with 2 points behind, followed by the champions @sawko and @eniolw as third and fourth. Congratulations!
In my first game against @pamboy27 he (with White) went greedy and made in an otherwise very comfortable position a serious blunder by taking a pawn at a4 which was -seemingly - not enough protected.
A few moves later all of a sudden White´s queen (or the bishop) is in serious trouble! In fact one move later White ran out of time, but the position is hopeless.

The rules you can look up in the S12 announcement post.
After 3 rounds @sawko was able to grab back the lead from @eniolw - by just a single point! Due to his win today @jaki01 gained two ranks and is now third, but with 11 points behind the leader it is already difficult to catch up!
See you all next week - and keep practicing!
In the first round of the Candidates Tournament Ian Nepomniachtchi could beat the co-favorite Ding Liren in a spectacular way! Also Fabiano Caruana won against Hikaru Nakamura in the US-battle. What a start!
