............ After I finished writing my post, I got to know it seems I have to write about African Music genres since the topic is with Afri-tunes community 😅 So I post this to Hive-JA.
TV games and me
I grew up with TV games. I had Family Computer, Game Boy, Super Family Computer, SEGA Saturn, Play Stations etc etc. I was not good at playing action games and preferred role-playing games with stories and simulation games that required strategies. I especially loved Square games such as Final Fantasy.
If I hadn't been playing games, if I hadn't been so addicted to them that I skipped school to play them for 10+ hours a day or left school early on game release days to be one of the first to play them, I might never have gotten involved in the computer or blockchain/crypto field.
I wanted to study computers in university because I wanted to make games. I was not able to fulfill that dream during my university years, but when I went back to graduate school, I created interactive artworks, so to speak, for exhibition using Microsoft's game framework XNA and Kinect, so I think I was able to fulfill my initial dream.
Thanks to the fact that I studied computers quite hard in college, including basic theory and algorithms, that knowledge is still useful in my computer-related work. When I first understood Bitcoin, my knowledge of public key cryptography was useful, and the basics of artificial intelligence were the same as what I had learned back then, so I was able to smoothly get my learning on track. These all started from playing computer games.
Game Music
So my life is inseparable from games and the game music that reminds me of the days when I played them. Even now, I listen to game music especially when I need to get pumped up or just to dance with my daughter. There are many different types of game music, but my favorite is battle music. I also like songs that conclude the end of an adventure, like the ending music.
One of my favorites is the ending medley for Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI, which is at the end of an album called SQ Chips that came out in 2011. I have told my family, half jokingly, half seriously, that they should play this music at my funeral and see me off with a nice meal and a lot of laughter.

The performance videos of musicians in that channel are also amazing. The performances are so great that it gives me goosebumps. I wonder I shall practice piano again after tens of years ... 😉

ゲームと私
私はテレビゲームと共に育ちました。ファミリーコンピュータ、ゲームボーイ、スーパーファミリーコンピュータ、セガサターン、プレイステーションなどなど。アクションゲームはあまり得意でなく、ストーリーのあるロールプレイングゲームや戦略が必要なシミュレーションゲームが好きでした。特にファイナルファンタジをはじめ、スクウェアのゲームが大好きでした。
ゲームが大好きすぎて学校をサボって1日10時間以上プレーしたり、ゲームの発売日に学校を早退していち早くプレーしたりするほどはまっていなかったら、コンピューターを勉強することもなく、ブロックチェーン・暗号資産の業界と関わることもなかったかもしれません。
私が大学でコンピューターを勉強したいと思ったのは、ズバリ、ゲームを作りたかったからです。大学時代にその夢は果たせなかったのですが、その後、MicrosoftのゲームフレームワークXNAやKinectを使って、展示のためのいわばインタラクティブなゲームを作ったので、当初の夢は果たせたと思います。
大学で基礎理論やアルゴリズムを含めて結構ハードにコンピューターを勉強したおかげで、今でもその知識はコンピューター関連の仕事で役に立ちます。最初にビットコインを理解するときには公開鍵暗号の知識が役立ち、人工知能も基礎は当時習ったことそのままでスムーズに学習を軌道にのせられました。
そんなこんなで私の人生はゲームと、プレーした当時を思い出させてくれるゲームミュージックと切っても切り離せません。今でもテンションを上げたいときにはゲームミュージックを流します。ゲームミュージックの中にもいろいろなタイプの音楽がありますが、私が大好きなのは戦闘曲です。エンディング曲のような冒険の終わりを締めくくる曲も好きです。
私が大好きなのは、2011年に出たSQ Chipsというアルバムの最後に入っているファイナルファンタジーIV, V, VIのエンディングメドレーです。家族には半分冗談、半分本気で私のお葬式ではこの音楽を流して、みんなでおいしい料理を食べて見送ってねと言ってあります。
