Hello, people of the Internet, everything okay? Today I want to talk to you about Spirited Away, one of my favorite movies from the Gibli studio, and although my favorite aspect is the art and design, the story is also quite beautiful and striking, so I invite you to know my opinion.
Hola, gente de Internet, ¿todo bien? Hoy quiero hablarles de El Viaje de Chihiro, una de mis películas preferidas del estudio Gibli, y es que aunque mi aspecto preferido es el arte y el diseño, la historia también es bastante bonita y llamativa, así que los invito a conocer mi opinión.
Chihiro is a temperamental and capricious girl who after a detour on a trip with her parents, they end up turned into pigs, and she embarks on a journey to try to get them back, although she will have to overcome a series of obstacles and learn many lessons, on this journey she meets people and creatures somewhat strange but all of them will bring something to her life.
Chihiro es una niña berrinchuda y caprichosa que tras un desvío en un viaje con sus padres, estos terminan convertidos en cerdos, y ella se embarca en un viaje para intentar recuperarlos, aunque tendrá que sortear una serie de obstáculos y aprender muchas lecciones, en este viaje ella conoce a gente y criaturas un tanto extrañas pero todas ellas aportarán algo a su vida.
The cinematography and art are the most beautiful thing about this movie, it has a vibrant color palette and gorgeous scenery, in fact the spa setting is inspired by Dōgo Onsen Honkan, a spa hotel which is a beautiful place, and I honestly believe that in the movie they captured its essence perfectly, both the real place and the one in the movie, it has the same majestic, magical and enigmatic vibe.
La fotografía y arte son lo más bonito de esta película, tiene una paleta de colores vibrante y unos escenarios magníficos, de hecho el escenario de los balnearios está inspirado en Dōgo Onsen Honkan, un hotel balneario que es un lugar precioso, y creo honestamente que en la película capturaron su esencia perfectamente, tanto el lugar real como el de la película, tiene la misma vibra majestuosa, mágica y enigmática.
The characters are very interesting to me, and the evolution of Chihiro as a character is great, hard work and discipline make her change and become a better girl, I think her evolution as a character is one of the best, and is that Hayao Miyasaki, ie the director, did not want her to be a perfect heroine, a girl without mistakes, on the contrary, Chihiro is a problem girl at the beginning, and when she enters “the other world” she is filled with panic, she does not know what to do, she needs to be guided, until little by little she discovers what to do and how to act, she is taking the course of her life. I also really enjoyed the symbolism of this film, for example, the fact that the parents of the protagonist have turned into pigs after eating in such an unbridled way, I take it as an allegory to the greed of adults. Although as it was later revealed the conversion to pigs represents the financial and real estate bubble that Japan lived during the 80's, when people hoarded products from supermarkets for their own benefit and then complained about the shortage that they themselves had caused, so I was not so far from reality in my deductions 😄 and wow it is something that we can understand very well, since in Venezuela during the times of shortages we lived something similar, some hoarded merchandise and then complained about the shortage.
Los personajes me resultan muy interesantes, y la evolución de Chihiro como personaje es genial, el trabajo duro y la disciplina logran que ella cambie y se haga una mejor niña, creo que su evolución como personaje es una de las mejores, y es que Hayao Miyasaki, es decir, el director, no quería que ella fuese una heroína perfecta, una chica sin errores, al contrario, Chihiro es una chica problema al inicio, y cuando entra "al otro mundo" se llena de pánico, no sabe que hacer, necesita ser guiada, hasta que poco a poco va descubriendo qué hacer y cómo actuar, va tomando el rumbo de su vida. Igualmente disfruté mucho la simbología de esta película, por ejemplo, el hecho de que los padres de la protagonista se hayan convertido en cerdos luego de comer de esa forma desaforada la tomo como una alegoría a la codicia de los adultos. Aunque según se reveló más tarde la conversión a cerdos representa la burbuja financiera e inmobiliaria que vivió Japón durante los años 80, cuando la gente acaparaba productos de los supermercados para su propio beneficio y luego se quejaban del desabastecimiento que ellos mismos habían provocado, así que yo no estaba tan lejos de la realidad en mis deducciones 😄 y vaya que es algo que podemos entender muy bien, ya que en Venezuela durante los tiempos de escases vivimos algo similar, algunos acaparaban mercancía y luego se quejaban del desabastecimiento.
The soundtrack is also a work of art, it perfectly accompanies the movie, every scene.
El soundtrack también es una obra de arte, acompaña perfectamente a la película, a cada escena.
I also like the designs of the characters as they are quite strange and colorful, but of course being in the world of the dead is not uncommon. Each character has a specific personality or characteristic, as for example the “faceless” (Kaonashi) one of my favorite characters for its design and way of acting and moving apparently erratic.
Me gustan también los diseños de los personajes ya que son bastante extraños y variopintos, pero claro que tratándose del mundo de los muertos no es raro. Cada personaje tiene una personalidad o característica específica, como por ejemplo el “sin cara” uno de mis personajes preferidos por su diseño y forma de actuar y moverse aparentemente errática.
