D.Gray-man is one of those manga that has a captivating story but is far from ending, just like Hajime no Ippo that is still in publication and has already surpassed 1000 chapters. This manga created by Katsura Hoshino is a work of art but has lost prestige due to its discontinuity or prolonged continuity, so to speak.
The story is based on a young man named Allen Walker, who being an orphan was adopted by Mana Walker, a character that has a lot of weight and transcendence in the story due to the context that surrounds him. But Allen is more important than he imagines, however these aspects are revealed as the plot progresses.
Hoshino sensei devised a quite fascinating work with elements based on the history of mankind, of course she gave her touch of fantasy and mysticism, such as the creation of the Noah family, who according to the series are mysterious characters who seek the destruction of humanity, and all of them extremely powerful, but submit to the authority of the millennial Count, which is the main villain of the film.

On the other hand this innocence can also be used by people who fight against the Count, these are called Exorcists and belong to the black order.
Here is where Allen Walker begins his adventure, abandoned by his master for reasons that are explained much later he must start a journey with the organization, where he meets friends who risk their lives with him to end the Count. Another element introduced are the "akumas" these beings are not the most powerful but they have a particularity in their creation, they are weapons created by the Count, but he makes them from the souls of dead people and for that he needs a close relative or another human being to cry and wish that the deceased returns, the Count uses that and brings him back but as a demon, a creature that needs to be released by the exorcists.
Under this context develops much of the story, the first chapters simply seems a hunt for Akumas, but later details are shown that give an incredible depth, the mystery is an essential element, perhaps that's why I like it, and its main character is the one that involves more secrets, but not even he himself is aware of who he really is.

Among the main characters there are several outstanding ones, Lavi is one of them, a "Bookman" or better known as a historian, he belongs to the black order and is an exorcist but his main mission is to record the facts of humanity as they occur. It is interesting to see how he executes both offices, there are even occasions where they contradict each other and he has to make decisions that may go against his beliefs.Lenalee Lee and Yu Kanda are also part of this group, and each of them with their personalities influences Allen's life, who later on will be affected by them, especially when he learns about the mystery in him.
This story really has many attractions, when it was licensed to be produced as an anime it had great receptivity, but they added a lot of filler that had nothing to do with the manga, that was one of the triggers for its production to be canceled. Later on, under another studio, it continued its broadcasting, but there were very few episodes.
Finally and to conclude, I consider that it is a story that must be finished at any cost, its mangaka is relatively young, so that in a way gives hope that he will finish it, although as I mentioned at the beginning of my post, it has lost a lot of appeal due to its discontinuity. As of today there is no official news, the last one was a kind of indirect message: "loading..." but it made reference to the fact that the manga will continue, so it is not surprising that at any moment we will have a new publication.

D.Gray-man es uno de esos manga que tienen una historia cautivante pero que está muy lejos de terminar, tal cual como Hajime no Ippo que sigue aun en publicación y ya ha superado los 1000 capítulos. Este manga creado por Katsura Hoshino es una obra de arte pero ha perdido prestigio debido a su discontinuidad o continuidad prolongada por decirlo de otra manera.
La historia se basa en un joven llamado Allen Walker, quien siendo huérfano fue adoptado por Mana Walker, un personaje que tiene mucho peso y transcendencia en la historia debido al contexto que lo rodea. Pero Allen es más importante de lo que imagina, sin embargo estos aspectos se van revelando a medida que progresa la trama.
La sensei Hoshino ideo una obra bastante fascinante con elementos basados en la historia de la humanidad, claro está le dio su toque de fantasía y misticismo, como por ejemplo la creación de la familia Noah, quien según la serie son personajes misteriosos que buscan la destrucción de la humanidad, y todos ellos sumamente poderosos, pero se someten a la autoridad del Conde milenario, el cual es el principal villano de la película.
Sumado a eso también creo una sustancia llamada Inocencia, la cual es el corazón de todo, esta sustancia fue esparcida en más de 100 fragmentos, los cuales tienen el poder para derrotar al Conde y sus secuaces por lo que él las busca para destruirlas. Por otro lado esta inocencia también puede ser usada por personas que luchan contra el Conde, estos son llamados Exorcistas y pertenecen a la orden negra.
Aquí es donde Allen Walker comienza su aventura, abandonado por su maestro por razones que se explican mucho más adelante debe iniciar un viaje de la mano de la organización, lugar donde conoce amigos que junto a él arriesgan sus vidas para acabar con el Conde. Otro elemento introducido son los “akumas” estos seres no son los más poderosos pero tienen una particularidad en su creación, son armas creadas valga la redundancia por el Conde, pero este las hace a partir de almas de personas muertas y para ello necesita que un familiar cercano u otro ser humano llore y desee que ese difunto vuelva, el Conde usa eso y lo trae de vuelta pero como un demonio, una creatura que necesita ser liberada por los exorcistas.
Bajo este contexto se desarrolla gran parte de la historia, los primeros capítulos simplemente parece una cacería de Akumas, pero más adelante se muestran detalles que dan una profundidad increíble, el misterio es un elemento esencial, quizás por eso me gusta, y su personaje principal es el que más secretos envuelve, pero ni siquiera el mismo está al tanto de quien es verdaderamente.
Entre los personajes principales hay varios destacables, Levi es uno de ellos, un “Bookman” o mejor conocido como un historiador, pertenece a la orden negra y es un exorcista pero su principal misión es registrar los hechos de la humanidad tal cual ocurren. Es interesante ver como ejecuta ambos oficios, incluso hay ocasiones donde estos se contradicen y debe tomar decisiones que pueden ir en contra de sus creencias. Lenalee Lee y Yu Kanda también forman parte de este grupo, y cada uno de ellos con sus personalidades influye en la vida de Allen, quien más adelante se verá afectado por las mismas, sobre todo cuando conoce el misterio que hay en él.
Esta historia realmente tiene muchos atractivos, cuando fue licenciada para ser producida como anime tuvo gran receptividad, pero le agregaron una gran cantidad de relleno que nada tenía que ver con el manga, eso fue uno de los detonantes para que se cancelara su producción. Más adelante bajo otro estudio continuo su emisión pero fueron muy pocos capítulos.
Por último y para concluir, considero que es una historia que debe ser terminada a como dé lugar, su mangaka es relativamente joven, así que eso en cierto modo da esperanza de que la termine, aunque como cite al principio de mi post, ha perdido mucho atractivo debido a su discontinuidad. Al día de hoy no hay noticias oficiales, la última fue una especie de mensaje indirecto: “loading…” pero hacía referencia a que el manga seguiría por lo que no es de extrañarnos que en cualquier momento tengamos una nueva publicación.
