Good day, Anime Realm Community. This will be my first posting in this community, and I am very excited about it. A new community of anime fans and enthusiasts had formed. So, I heard about this community from a friend and decided to join. I've been an otaku since I was introduced to it by my best friends six years ago. I used to think anime was boring because it was just animation with no fun. But then they showed me HunterxHunter, the first anime I watched and finished until the very end, and I was like, wow! It was exquisitely crafted, with breathtaking scenes and incredible music.
They had no idea I was reading manga every day. Since I was first introduced to it, I've been reading as many as I can. I've experimented with every genre. Some bored me to tears, others piqued my interest, and still, others nailed it with godlike drawing and story. You won't get bored with anime if you appreciate everyone involved, from the writers to the drawers, editors, animators, and finally the producers. I value each role they play because it is critical to producing good manga and anime.
Years passed, and I moved on from Manga to Manhwa. I'm not sure why I've become so obsessed with Korean drawing since the pandemic. I admired their efforts to create such artistic visuals with incredible storylines based on light novels. So now I'd like to share some manga that I enjoyed reading, and I always look forward to seeing the phrase "updated today." Isn't it the best feeling in the world when your favorite mangas and manhwas are updated? I'm not sure, it's just my gut feeling.
My top 5 current favorite manhwas
Return of the Flowery Mountain Sect
The first chapter was published on March 3, 2021. Currently, it has 72 amazing chapters, and it was on hiatus today because of transitioning to another arc. One thing I loved the most about it was the sense of humor of the main character. Chung Myung was a beast-like character with a humorous personality. He is a child, yet he brings the whole squad together through training. Due to his reincarnation, he has knowledge of basic to complex sword techniques.
What is it about this manhwa that has me hooked?
I think it was because I read its novel, and its novel was absolutely good. Although some characters' names are quite confusing because they're not the same as the manhwa. Yet, when you read the light novel, you will read it continuously and will definitely wait for the next update. It is a 9.8/10 for me.
The Great Mage Returns After 4000 Years
If any of you have a great interest in defeating gods, I think this manhwa is for you. The first chapter was released on May 1, 2020, with 136 chapters as of today. I had a great interest in reading magical stories with the goal of defeating gods in such a hard way. I believe this story has what it takes to dominate the manhwa world. It is shocking in every fighting scene that will give you goosebumps. His character development is well-made, well-positioned, and well-crafted. He’s not overpowering, which is a good thing because I really hate OP's main character.
What is it about this manhwa that has me hooked?
I think its plot is not what I always think of because I have a habit of predicting that this story will be like this or that. The character gives me a chill when the eyes change and when the demigods release their power. It is such a wonderful sight to see it on screen. You’ll definitely not miss this. It is a 9.8/10 for me.
Leveling With The Gods
The first time I saw its light novel gave me the impression that it would be an interesting one. It produced its first chapter on August 14, 2021, with 61 chapters as of the moment. A story that always hits the climax and gives a satisfying ending to each chapter. Then, you will crave more. I would say that this manhwa mixed some of the most famous mythological gods and goddesses. I love the character development that it doesn’t start being omnipotent or with godlike skills. I was reading the light novel first, which is ahead of the manhwa itself.
What is it about this manhwa that has me hooked?
One of the amazing things about this manga is how creative and intense the scenes are. You’ll never get bored, really. I never felt even once. Creating a system, skills, and storyline is hard. But this manhwa gives justice to the three. The light novel has a good and well-translated version for English users. I give this a 9.8/10 as well.
The Legend of The Northern Blade
What can I say about this manhwa who always gives me a jaw-dropping fighting scene with an insane drawing? It released the first chapter on June 13, 2020, with 130 chapters as of today. I tell you guys, this manhwa is a satisfying one. The plots are supreme, the character development is awesome, and it received so many good reviews. A top martial arts manhwa that I am so proud to recommend. A crazy battle of tactics and skills If you haven’t read this one, you should start reading it. So worth it!
What is it about this manhwa that has me hooked?
It possessed everything I was looking for. Good characters, a well-developed storyline, and amazing drawing. I was so in love with each grand fighting scene that it made me want to fight as well. The ladder of the story creates a great impact. It is a 9.9/10 for me.
Ranker, Who Lives A Second Time
It always made me speechless how this manhwa managed to create a top-tier storyline with so much imagination. When I read its light novel for the first time, I was so jealous of the writer. He’s so good. Sa Doyeon was a gifted writer. The story managed to give me a whole different perspective on what a manhwa should be. Its characters are enriched with good development and balanced. I finished the light novel, and the manhwa did justice.
What is it about this manhwa that has me hooked?
This manhwa has it all. It tackles power, family, friendship, love, brotherhood, betrayal, beliefs, and society. It leaves an ache and happiness in my heart. I loved how the writer and drawer collaborated together to give this a satisfying manhwa. It is a 10/10 for me.
These are all the recommendations I can give in terms of the manhwa version. I have read plenty in the last 6 years, and I believe these are the top ones I love the most in the genres of fantasy and action. Yes, there are others who managed to impress me, but they just left me hanging or annoyed me with their characters and storyline. I hope I can give you a good recommendation. Try reading them. It's so worth it!
