How are you today? Hope you are feeling good!
A couple of days my HivePH friends recommend me this anime (MASHLE Magic and Muscles). I just want to rewatch Harry Potter movies instead this anime strike the same vibe. I google it first and look at the images section. It's about magic and their outfit looks like of the Harry Potter movie.
Though I didn't see the anime yet I did read the manga. I'm still at chapter 80 of the manga. It has a lot of funny moments and sense of humor recommended for anyone who wants to read manga or watch the anime.
✨✨✨
Mash Burnedead is the main character of the anime. He was found by a man name Regro Burnedead and raised him like his son. His father thought him self defense and they lived peacefully outside the big city. One day a policeman discovered that Mash don't have a mark meaning he is unable to use magic. The policeman tried to capture Mash but it failed. And so the policeman made a deal to enroll him in the Easton Magic Academy to become a divine visionary in order for him and his father to lived peacefully.
I was inspired to create a fan art of Mash and share it here. Oh and Mash loves Cream Puffs so I put it in this art too😁
Join me walk through the process of creation and hope you have fun as the art progress from the start to finish.
Digital Art Process
I started with a sketch for the pose and composition of Mash. I was thinking of doing a full body, a profile and some chibi version of him.
✨✨✨
After I'm done with the sketching and ideas. I started to make the outlines. Using the lasso tool I create the lines in color black. And then I add a layer below and create a mask color layer. Any color will do for now because it is just temporary. I will be adding colors later.
✨✨✨
I moved on to the profile version. Same with the first one I use lasso and add a mask layer under the lines.
✨✨✨
And here are the chibis. Chibi also known as super deformation. A style of caricature originating in Japan, and common in anime and manga where characters are drawn in an exaggerated way, typically small and chubby with stubby limbs, oversized heads, and minimal detail.
✨✨✨
Then I did the base colors. These are flat colors for each parts of the illustration. I separate the layers of the head/face color with the clothes color and other elements like the cream puffs.
✨✨✨
Let's focus on the main whole body character first. What I did is I add a layer on top of the base color. Set it to multiply blending mode and color to the areas where I think shadow will be. I am using a lasso tool for creating these shadow because anime use mostly hard and sharp details to render characters.
✨✨✨
I add another layer on top of the shadow and make the light portion of the character. It is just set to normal blending mode since anime use just basic color rendering output. And if you notice I add color to the outlines around the nose, mouth, ears and also the outline of the cream puff. And there you have the rendering process. I continue the same technique to the rest of the images.
✨✨✨
Same process to the first image. A simple shadow layer above the base colors.
✨✨✨
And the light area layer above the shadow layer.
✨✨✨
Ahaha cream puffs all the way. He is also making his own cream puffs. He surely loves it so much😆
✨✨✨
Oh here after the highlight I duplicate those cream puffs and place it as a background in the other chibi. I also add an Adler logo at the back of Mash's coat. It's a symbol of their class houses.
✨✨✨
And then time to put it all together. I also made an abstract glowing effect leaning towards the cream puff😁
Just add outer glow and inner glow to it and the effects just amazing.
Final Artwork
Lastly, I add the background and I also add some outer stroke for each character. Added highlights to his hair a layer above the black outlines and finished the illustration. There you have it my fan art. Hope you like it😌
