Hi Hivers!! Did you know that Tengoku-Daimakyo was named Anime of the Year at the 10th Anime Trending Awards. Tengoku Daimakyou is part of the anime that will be released in the Spring 2023 season.
This anime has a slightly different story from the others that came out in the same period. Unfortunately, even though it's fun, Tengoku Daimakyou isn't as exciting as Oshi no Ko, which is a big hit this season. But the story behind Tengoku Daimakyou is unique, you know. We will be invited into the world of two characters who live in different places, but apparently have an unexpected relationship.
This anime has exciting action and also shows us how to survive, so it can make us really feel like we are in the story. The characters are also really interesting to watch. Even though it looks like it's for children, this story is actually more suitable for adults. So, what exactly is the story of Tengoku Daimakyou? Come on, let's find out more!
Tengoku Daimakyou is adapted from the manga by Masakazu Ishiguro. Initially, this manga was published in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine. Now, the manga has reached volume 8, and is still continuing. Starting on January 28, 2018, the first volume was released in July of the same year. The manga story is still developing, so there will definitely be many mysteries that will be revealed.
The story of Tengoku Daimakyou is set 15 years after the earth was destroyed. Japan is a devastated country, with an increasingly small human population. Strange creatures began to appear everywhere. Meanwhile, there is a group of children who are raised behind giant walls, raised by sophisticated robots, and isolated from the outside world. Even so, their curiosity about the outside world does not disappear. They live in Heaven, a comfortable place for them. On the other hand, the outer world which is already in chaos is called Hell. Our main protagonist, Maru, lives in Hell and is on a mission to find Heaven.
Maru, a 15 year old teenage boy, is the main character in this story. He lives in Hell and has the task of looking for Heaven. On his journey, he is accompanied by Kiruko, a young girl in her early 20s who is possessed by the spirit of her younger brother, Haruki. Actually, Maru's mission is to find someone who has a face similar to him in Heaven, so he can get healing medicine.
The main story in this anime is Maru and Kiruko's journey in search of Heaven, where we will see how hard their lives are in the midst of chaos. On the other hand, in Heaven there is a teenager named Tokio whose face is very similar to Maru. Even though his life is comfortable in Heaven, Tokio is very curious about the outside world. We will be invited to explore Heaven through Tokio's eyes. But, just when Tokio wanted to know more about the outside world, he found something strange in Heaven: a baby in the form of a monster kept in a tube.
The story of Tengoku Daimakyou is no joke. Exploring a chaotic world with the threat of monsters is enough to make the story dark. Not to mention the mysteries that occur in Heaven. The background of the characters is also not much different, it's just that dark. Maru and Kiruko, both of them had hard lives that shaped them into who they are now.
The scenes in this anime are also not suitable for children, there are lots of adult scenes. Apart from that, a peaceful life in Heaven can quickly turn sour, like the relationship between Tokio and Kona which teaches a lesson about the importance of sex education from an early age.
Even though the genre is different, many say that Tengoku Daimakyou is very similar to The Promised Neverland. The Promised Neverland is a dark shounen anime about children living in an orphanage. Even though the orphanage looks fun, there are actually dark secrets hidden. The concept of the orphanage in The Promised Neverland is very similar to Heaven in Tengoku Daimakyou. Apart from that, the desire of children in orphanages to go out is also similar to the desire of children in Heaven to see the outside world. The psychological aspects of these two series are also considered similar.
Well, Tengoku Daimakyou is produced by Kodansha and is part of an exclusive collaboration with Disney+. So don't be surprised if you can only watch it on the Disney+ platform. That's also what makes this anime a bit difficult to find on other legal streaming platforms, so it's less well-known. Even though Disney+ was initially not known for showing anime, now they are starting to look at this medium because anime is on the rise. Apart from Tengoku Daimakyou, Disney+ also gets exclusive rights to show Tokyo Revengers Season 2. So, Tengoku Daimakyou airs every Saturday on Disney+ Hotstar. So, get ready to watch!
