In any action anime show, there's always a period where the villain is winning.
Winning hands down that it starts to look seriously from for the protagonist and whatever he's trying to protect.
At this point, especially in the shounen genre, most fans would be expecting an MC comeback.
An over powerful surge of energy that'll make the MC be able to match or even overcome his opponent.
Throughout my years of watching anime, I've seen so many comebacks without count, some so well set that it'll give you goosebumps just watching it, while I've also seen some rather mild and mid comebacks were the increase in power is jist lightheartedly explained as the "power of friendship." (Terrible setting)
So I decided to create this post to highlight five of my best comebacks in anime, decided by plot, setting and animation/drawing.
The MC Comeback
5. Percival Versus Worreldante - Four Knights Of The Apocalypse.

For those who may have seen my last anime post, they may know how enamored I am with the Brittania verse and it's characters.
I went back to finish Seven Deadly Sins and I'm currently up to date with the latest chapter of Four Knights Of The Apocalypse which shows Percival reawakening and the only against Worreldante of Camelot.
The Camelot, knights have been shown to be pretty powerful and experienced, and of all the knights shown so far, Worreldante is the one who actually made fans worry.
The initial decree by King Arthur to his knights were to avoid every member of the Seven Deadly Sins when hunting down the four knights of the apocalypse.
Plenty heeded that order and the few who clashed with Ban in a fleeting scene barely managed to escape with their lives.
Yet Worreldante, a knight from the order of "The Four Evils" waltzed into the Fairy King forest, assaulted, beat and nearly killed two of the Sins, Diane and King.
I feel their powers were a bit underplayed but still seeing that was just unsettling.
A lot happened in this arc but the highlight was how Percival showed up to save the day in the last moments.
A massive power up after his reawakening as he now has control over his life spirit powers and in just a few strikes had considerably weakened Worreldante for King to deal the finishing blow.
It was ecstatic to read and with the current animation style of the last part of the four knights of the apocalypse, I can see it's animation would be even better.
Although that's a long time from now😂
4. Kaneki Versus Jason - Tokyo Ghoul
This was one comeback which was so beautifully planned in its unexpectedness.
Kaneki had been tortured by Jason for weeks until he finally accepted himself and accepted the ghoul in him.
The settings, the fights, the animation and the music in the background was just cinema magic.
The only bad thing which made me rank this lower is the fact that this comeback made Kaneki become a total heartless fellow to his friends and create an alter ego and other stuffs ..
I guess it just didn't sit right with me😂, regardless it was a wonderful comeback.
3. Itadori Versus Mahito - Jujutsu Kaisen
The Shibuya arc gave us a lot of fights, yet none were as satisfying as the rematch between Itadori and Mahito.
After the incident with Junpei from Season 1, and so many other incidents after that, these two natural rivals and enemies have been powering up and honing their skills in the face of a rematch.
This rematch didn't come without it's fair share of gore though, as both parties had been through a lot mentally, physically and emotionally<-- mostly Itadori, before meeting face to face.
The fight, joined by Todo was nothing short of peak.
The animation and quick paced blows would leave you on edge and the acceptance of the frailty of life by Itadori and the lack of justification for him wanting to end Mahito's made it worthwhile.
MAPPA did wonders in this show and this Season in particular, but this fight was the peak.
It was especially satisfying seeing Mahito reduced to such a pitiable state.
2. Naruto versus Pain - Naruto Shippuden
This is one fight that is in the heart of any and all Naruto fans, it's a true masterpiece of Cinema and one of Naruto's best.
After the death of Jiraiya, Naruto was sent to the frog village to train in sage mode and Konoha was left to try and figure out how Pain, the leader of Akatsuki and the owner of the Rinnegan works.
At the same time, Pain, invades Konoha and lays waste to the village, decimating everything in his way, literally clearing the village to the last man.
After his closing attack, in a stoke of pure cinematic inspirational brilliance, Naruto show's up with one of the best entrances ever with a phenomenal power up and engaged Pain.
The Battle wasn't without it's hiccups, but the fact that Naruto single handedly defeated the major threat to the village sounds unrefuted.
1. Luffy versus Kaido- One Piece
This is without a doubt, one of the -if not the- best anime comeback in history.
It's a sheer test of will, with One Piece borrowing the Intro that Naruto used and made it into something phenomenal.
Gear 5...
This phenomenal power is one that almost all anime fans- irrespective of if they've watched the anime- knows and its power is realm breaking.
Kaido stood no chance when faced with Gear 5th Luffy.
The drums of liberation, is an episode that would always give me goosebumps.
These are five of my best Comebacks in anime, although there are plenty others, I chose these ones because they actually had meaning in the story.
The Main Character's surge of power isn't something that can be said to be love or friendship, it's something done within the plot, at the right time, when facing the right opponent.
At least in my view...
