It has been quite sometime that the idea of watching the anime legend famously known as the father of anime Dragon Ball.
After watching and finishing (or following to date) all series in the Big Three and over 70% of other major anime Series of the early 2000 till date, I figured that the fact that Dragon Ball was exempt from my catalogue was just scandalous to my claim as an otaku😔.
Forgive me. I'm not one of those die hard fans that believe you must watch all of the anime's in some high fan made list before you can claim to be an otaku, but still...
Dragon Ball is just one of those shows that shouldn't be unwatched😂😂
The main reason behind my abstinence from this series from long ago was my feelings about the power rankings of their characters and also the insanity of the fans😂😂
It made me cringe so much that I developed some kind of unwarranted hatred for the show.
Unwarranted based on the fact that I personally haven't watched it😂
I've watched One Piece, and I've been trying to get people to watch one piece and I've seen people's replies and abstinence, some hating the show based off random reasons.
While I, a perfectly sane fan of one piece is easy to debunk their hatred easily, they still don't want to watch.
I realized that their decision is innate and I shouldn't, wouldn't and couldn't force them to view it with an open mind. The experience made me to relook at Dragon Ball and decide that I should at least gove the series a try before simply locking it out of my life.
Although, since I'm currently downloading other series episodes and I wouldn't want to mess up my already messed up anime downloading schedule.
I decided to do this one in the way fans were viewing it back in the mid 1980's
Since I'd decided to read the manga instead of downloading and keeping the anime.
I had the liberty of starting from the very beginning, and planning to read everything on Dragon Ball till this date.
I may download the movies but in summary I planned to finish the manga.
For now though, I've read just the first three chapters, and I have to say.
It's not as bad as I thought it was.
The first chapter introduces us to 14 year old Sun Goku, a rather ignorant kid who lived in forest by himself.
He then runs into, or rather gets run over by Bulma. The 16 year old tech girl who's searching for Dragon Balls on her school holiday.
She finds Goku's Dragon Ball who he calls his grandfather and then convinces him to join her quest in finding the other dragon balls so she can have his dragon ball and him for a body guard. Goku, being relatively free and jobless agreed.
These first three chapters were filled with comical gags which amused me. Not at all what I expected Dragon Ball beginning to be like.
I'd only watched part of Dragon Ball Z and a little of the Tournament of Champions (Jigen Arc) because it was showing serialized in Nickelodeon at that time.
Forgive me if I didn't say the Arc name right... I know its tournament of something 😂😂
Regardless, I do find myself intrigued by this manga and wondering what happens next.
I believe this is because I've already seen Goku attain the Super Saiyan whatever whatever power up and I'm curious how he got to so many😂
Since I also already have numerous images and scenes of the parts of Dragon Ball Z that I watched that I'm hoping to catch them later on the manga.
Regardless, I'm going to read on with an open mind. Maybe this is an anime conversion, a new Dragon Ball fan in me being born..
Or maybe I'll just read through it, have a few laughs and use it to wait for One piece in April (the more realistic instance)
Regardless, the coming weeks would tell✨🐲
