Sketch
At the beginning one of the first things I was thinking about was what pose would the character have? since in my head I visualized the character standing on a wooden table, partying and drinking beer, then I started to make the sketch and then I wanted to change the pose for another one, where one of the knees was down, while with one arm raised, holding the medieval style glass with his hand, and with the other hand holding the strap that holds the barrel, because I liked the idea that instead of holding the barrel with one arm, he was carrying it as if it was a backpack on his back, and for the tail I thought it would be great if he was also holding the other glass, but giving the impression that this glass was being filled through the faucet that is in the barrel containing beer.
Process
To apply the color I decided that each part of the body should be divided by separate layers, so that at the moment of coloring it I would not move to other areas or parts of the body, placing on top of those separate layers, other layers in clipping mask mode, with which I would apply the colors of shadows and lights.
I started applying different styles of brushes to texture the skin, applying light and dark on the mouth, as well as the teeth and eyes.
At this point you can see how I intensified the shadows on the clothes, besides placing the shadow of the character on the table, as the light will be from top to bottom, one of the things I wanted to add to the vest was a red border, to match the fabric belt that has the character and also the bracelets, placing the same shades of red to match everything, I also made the small emblem in gold where I wanted this to be part of the knife, which was something I wanted to add.
While I was progressing with the illustration, one of the things I thought for the background was a wooden wall, as the character is in a tavern, the medieval glasses also visualized them with beer spilling, one of the things I wanted to add was to draw the character a little saliva in the mouth, and finally I placed a light effect to focus the character from above, thank you very much for taking the time to read my post and have a great day.
