Today I would like to discuss about my experience with AI Art, what I think of it and how we could better utilize it to be more artful.
First off, I am a very very experimental "child" and I will explore anything that "is not" thrown at me.
That indeed includes AI Art, iaaiiiai art brings something we rarely have seen in the Art world... and that is... well... a power-creep, an inflation, something that we can be too much fed with, indeed. (Sorry for the broken english but we have to somehow convince the elitists that this is written by a human...)
What is that you may ask?
Yeah... it is a bold 360 degrees shift to our consumer style of society. We tend to consume anything out of boredom but AI Art is here to change that, along with all other forms of generative media.
Why are those generative media extremely vital to the direction of content consumption? (yes, I do not prefer that word either but anyway)
Now the reason being, if there is too much garbage out there, it will be easier to dinstinguish the ACTUALLY good content, at first we consume just whatever because there is too less and we can pick the less quality over the better quality products, however... with generative media we get to experience the opposite and start being MORE picky about our choices, and amongst the flood of content, we will see genuinely good products emerge which sometimes might appear better than before, to that end yes traditional art will be rare but also transform from factory labor every day content to instead be luxury and return back to the older ages of real art, where real art is admired not as a hussle for work or work-training but instead as a form of true expression.
Indeed "real" art nowdays mostly consists of packaging made through the talent of many, but that dilutes art greatly.
Another point that will likely occur is that there will be divides and after the betrayal from deviant art, our beloved home for years for sharing art at high school, now we have to look elsewhere, yet artstation is no better, providing mostly the aforementioned industry-standard valued art rather than real art or at least promoting it more.
Art by definition has no borders and is meant to have 2 aspects, one is that of the "eye of the beholder' meaning that subjectively something we percieve makes us feel a certain way, while on the other hand we also have the expression part which is when the artist expresses through ANY tool or set of tools and leaves a mark in the real world for anyone to witness (or not).
We will start going insane with the whole political elitist control over what is art or not, it should be clear by now.
Art is an experience, it can have 2 sides (taking in and spitting out).
It can be an expression of obsessions, fears, feelings etc.
It can invoke on the other hand feelings, triggers, fears, experiences etc.
Both sides to that artpiece are subjective and if we want to go full-on philosophiocal mode, the piece itself has no inherent meaning.
Blood is a red substance, having hemoglobin protein which makes it red. We associate red with blood, with passion, with very sharp feelings, why sharp? because blades cut the skin, spilling out the blood.
Some may get ocd triggers from blades others may feel a thrill, we walk on a thin ice here when it comes to subjectivity!!!
To the point, AI are tools, they are not a second brain, it is like the library of alexandria condensed in a few megabytes of data, it is not (yet) perfect but when it becomes... we will once again be free to have our own fun playtime, which is where usually the magic happens and how those inventions came to be in the first place...
Artists who enter the flow state, are indeed masters of their vision!
I hope this short article finds you well, have a great rest of the day!
