Getting this card wasn't an easy one as I noticed that many fanart have not been made of the card. The first entry I will be making for the Splinterlands Art Contest in the year 2025 is a rare one and for that I am very glad. In the previous year I had a good run and kind of stated my achievements and goals in my last post (which now is gone with 2024) and that sum gives me courage to face the plots I have mapped for this year. Also I will try as much as possible to make more drawings besides contests as I did when I first started. I'm in a way planning on going back to my first love.
the character was a very unique one and after I drew its features over the lineart of the reference that I got, the sketch transformed into something altogether different.
The next thing I did was to trace the lineart with my black ink. In my opinion, this straightens out all the misconceptions and wrong alignment. It is not full proof but in many ways, it reduces inconsistency.
The headgear and armour were my next target. On some occasions I did a layer of black ink and topped it with blue. In some of these areas too I made sure the black was prevalent
the steps here are not too obvious as it only contains some dab of black on the hair and some other parts.
I then took the liberty of shading the rest of the body armour. In doing this I tried my best in maintaining rhythm
Talk about saving the best for last, the last thing I did was to share the eyeballs. After this, I did a little touch up of the entire sketch.
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
