I am not much of a Fantastic Four fan but I have to say that anytime I see the this card, it reminds me of that flaming dude. During the process of this sketch I did a lot of brainstorming. I am thankful though that I was able to find a very good reference which in lots of ways helped my lineart go smoothly. And from the lineart (as you can obviously see) every other thing that fell in place. The original reference though similar looked a lot like a genie and I had this urge to engulf the legs with flames just as in the card but upon consideration I ended up with the aesthetics.
Straightaway I drew the lineart using my blue pen. As I stated earlier the reference I got was very much of help
afterwards I used my black pen to trace the figure. Originally I wanted to use a red ink for fear that a black lineart would stand out and disfigure the sketch but still I gave black a shot.
I continued the lineart following due process...
at this point the lineart was firm and I very well knew where I was headed..
I reaffirmed everything and made sure to put in the heat waves in anticipation...
Shaded a bit with the color red
Confirmed the shadings and arrived at the end...
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
