Over the few months in which I have been participating in the Splinterlands Art Contest I have seen some entries that truly intrigued me. One is of deddywox when he shared a digital piece of the MUSPELHEIM DEMON. Ever since, I haven't gotten over that representation. This contest has pushed me to learn things I ordinarily wouldn't have picked up to learn or even try and I am grateful for that.
About this time on Sunday I happened upon a drawing so beautiful I got an idea and that idea is the motor behind today's post. On this particular piece of art, I would appreciated your feedbacks. I haven't drawn muscles these realistic before so please do comment. Thanks.
Having spotted an orc-like creature with a face I could easily manipulate I decided to draw my lineart using my blue pen and mark interesting features similar to that of the Demon on its body..
...moving on I drew part of the head which in a way helped solidified my proportion. As of now I know the size of the drawing..
then I shaded its horn and draw the arm with some smooth hatching. I was hoping to trying light scribbles too and did even but the hatching was so neat I had to stick with it (don't you think?)
... by now it is clear that the lineart is complete. At inception I wanted to go all red on the sketch but a black lineart lacing a red figure was becoming the more promising especially because of the way the hatching technique was used and turned out.
now I begin lacing the muscles and all parts of his body with Red. At this point I wasn't following any pattern since it was the first layer as you can see..
thereafter I focused on the face and shaded it multiple times.
I touched up the body, muscles and face again
after the multiple light layers, I ended up with this. Pretty good uhn?
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
