This week I made a beautiful drawing of the Queen of Crows for my Splinterlands post. The reference was something I was familiar with but never gave it a thought. On sighting it again earlier this week I began adding some of the basic traits and costume of the Queen of Crows and it matched perfectly. After this configuration in my mind, I decided that a quick sketch was in order. I poured out what was in my mind into the lineart and the result wasn't that compelling but the very moment I spent time to straighten out the lot, everything started falling in place.
The first step was to make the lineart and probably throw in a few Crows (she wouldn't be the Queen of Crows if some were not just lying around would she?)..
I continued the sketch and reinforced her face with a black pen, this time I tried making sure that the proportion was right.
..I added the hat and a little Crow became visible in the corner, still on the essentials
Since my palette restricts me, I decided to use blue (instead of purple) for her hair and I shared her arm sleeve with everything I've got.
...I then drew the other bird and reaffirmed the blue on her hair.
Her outfit was the next priority. Although I didn't totally shade it, I still did the best I could.
This is the near finished work with the hat and everything close to completion
.... now here you have it, the endgame.
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
