There's this concept I have come to notice both in the gaming and animation world. I have noticed over the years that female characters are often fierce (for the most part). Recounting my real life experiences too I to some extent can relate. Most women with power tend to be strict even more than the opposite sex. I think it's because they want to be taken seriously but truth be told, they are fierce inside out..lol
Take today's card character for instance, just imagine coming across her with her flaming sword and stern straight look. I for one wouldn't attack cause it seems as though she has nothing to lose and I can't gamble on that.
Knowing fully well the technicality with the character I decided to draw something a little more simple with less fierceness. I also in a way added a mask. Originally, I intended drawing the Dhamphir Infiltrator but I couldn't find ths reference so I made this instead and omitted the flaming sword.
I started off the piece with my blue pen lineart
Then I structured the face with some added colors..
To get the purple feel I layed out the shirt with some red, then blue and to top it off, black. For the bracelet, i did red and black with some little blue.
I chose red for the hair to represent the flaming nature of the original card....
And finally, the finished work.
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
