It's Splinterlands' anniversary!!💥💥
And yours too! If you're part of this incredible world and its gaming and art ecosystem, I recently saw that it's been 6 years since the launch of Splinterlands, and I still remember when it was called Steemmonsters back then, which makes me think about all that this fantasy world of battle has endured.
I'm not really a Splinterlands player, to be honest. I never really learned how the gameplay worked because my internet wasn't cooperative enough to load the game properly. But still, I wanted to be a part of this world, so I joined the weekly art contest. For the past two years, I've been creating fan art of the characters that you probably battle with every day.
That's why today I wanted to bring together some very old characters, such as Silvershield Warrior, Malric Inferno, Cornealus, Alric Stormbringer, and leading them and proclaiming many more years of Splinterlands is Prophet Rosa, with her clock marking the game's sixth anniversary.

-Step 1:
I wanted the composition of the illustration to focus on the prophet, with her in the middle of the canvas holding her clock high, from which the magical 6 would emerge, while the other characters accompany her in the background (at this point, honestly, I still didn't know which characters I was going to draw there).
-Step 2:
I applied a gradient between blue and light brown to the background, allowing me to create a color palette for the character that immediately harmonized with its surroundings. Once again, I used different layers to separate each of the elements that make up the character, and I gave the first glimpse of the magical anniversary 6.
-Step 3:
I've always had the idea of creating furry art in mind, and today was the perfect opportunity to test how well I can portray anthropomorphic animals. So, I delicately painted the Minotaur face of the prophet to make her look very cute and beautiful.
-Step 4:
And here are the party guests! I gathered the most veteran characters from Splinterlands to accompany the prophet in this celebration, and I took the opportunity to paint some of them for the first time. The only one I had included in my fan arts before was Cornealus. Despite having been painting for Splinterlands for two years, I feel like I haven't even painted 25% of all its characters. There are just so many of them!
-Step 5:
For the final touches, I focused on the magic and celebration. I remembered that I had this brush that creates random shapes, so I used it to simulate the red confetti flying through the air. I looked up references of fireworks and used the magic of the old wizard Alric to create a beautiful pink explosion in the sky. Malric Inferno is holding a large sign with the Splinterlands logo, although I was too lazy to define his features (someday I'll make you an epic fan art, Malric, I promise). While focusing on creating colorful magic, Silvershield Warrior ended up somewhat hidden, but I won't lie, he was the first character in the background that I painted. He was originally just a random warrior, but once I added a helmet to his head, he became Silvershield Warrior, haha.
One very iconic and old character was missing, though. I'm talking about the great green dinosaur, Rex. But I'll paint him very soon. Now, tell me, which other iconic Splinterlands character was missing from this celebration?
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
See you in a future post!
