More and more Splinterlands
Because I love the new Riftwachers designs, and I have seen so many fan arts of them that I get excited and I also want to do my own art of each of these cards, a few weeks ago I did Water Caller, everyone who saw her loved it and that makes me want to keep drawing more and more.
Today I bring you Runemancer Kye, but a younger version of her, I wanted to paint her as a young mermaid still aspiring to become Runemancer, so you are really seeing Azura Kye, a beautiful mermaid living her days in peace swimming around the ocean even without the big role she will get in the future.

-Step 1:
Something I was never quite sure if Azura got her wings with the Runemancer power or if they have always been part of her, but these wings were what prompted me to draw her in this pose, mostly prompted because I wanted to test how these wings would look like coming from the lower back.
-Step 2:
One thing I love about Azura, is her skin tone, so the color palette would be with pink, blue and violet tones, but her base was mostly pink to then decide where the highlights and shadows should be.
-Step 3:
I wanted to add the protections on her arms, since her lore says that she was a warrior since she was very young, also it is a distinctive element in the design of the character, as well as her reddish hair and the coverage between blue and violet tones of her skin, which I was accentuating more as I was detailing.
-Step 4:
But I didn't want her eyes to get lost in the shadows, so with a very dark tone, I lined her eyelids and pupils, focusing the attention directly on the pink eyes looking at the camera. I also worked a bit on the water, which doesn't really have too much prominence, but I didn't want the mermaid to be floating in the middle of nowhere.
-Step 5:
The final details were very few, and were mostly focused on the elements that Azura has, such as her forearm protections, her wings and the scales that stand out in her body, but I tried not to detail to the maximum every inch of the drawing since I had managed to capture all the attention directly to her eyes.
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
