How is everybody? 😊 This is my second entry and this time, I chose The Widow of Compton. Congrats to all winners and entries of last week's contest. If you want to join, check out @radaquest's guidelines here.
Art Process
I sketched first the pose of the character. I searched for a simple pose of a girl and then drew a dress with frills. In the background, I was thinking of broken glass and then shattered mirrors floating all over. Next, I applied the base colors on different layers. I just copied by looking at the colors on the original art.
Rendering the hair took me a lot of time. I used a darker shade of gray for the inner corners. Using smudge brush and airbrush, I soften the hard edges and blended the color on the base color. Next, I worked on the eyes. Since it is just the white of the eyes, I finished it quicker. The red stripes below the eyes reminded me of Eren from Attack on Titan, hehe. For the skin and clothing, I used a hard airbrush. On top of the colors, I added the shines using a flat brush.
Intensifying the colors by using a deeper shade with the same brushes. I chose a dark blue background with a light shade gradient. I applied a blue light on the edges of the character using a flat brush.
Final Art
I ditched the mirror on the back but instead, I opted for the broken shards. I used a downloaded brush from the asset store and modified the opacity and color. I blurred out some of the shards to create a dimension. On top of everything, I masked it with a noise filter.
Finished art!😁
