I am spending a lot of time playing the game called Sky, hehe. You can probably tell on my blog how much this game is consuming my time. 😆 I am so committed to this game that over time, I memorized the characters and the open worlds (Yes, many worlds here).
So, why not make a fan art? 😆
Sketch
Like I said in the previous blogs, I cannot believe that this game is free! The graphics are so good as well as the storyline. Hmm, some may find it boring because there are not much of actions in the game. It is more of the coziness. The colors and background music too are relaxing~ 🥰
I first looked on Google for the posters of Sky. A lot of them are super pretty! ✨ It was so hard to do a concept when there are a lot of nice references. If I put them all in one frame, it will be an overkill. 😆 Here are some of the posters that I like to use for this art. Here and here.
I first drew the sketch. I am imagining my character jumping from a cliff and spreading her wings. There will be floating islands on both sides and then put some temples on top. A lot of clouds will be on the sky covering almost half of the frame. Nawp, those are not whales but flying mantas. 😊 Some morning stars and birds too to fill the space.
The sky is a gradient color already a default on the bucket tool. This is usually the gradient that I use if the art is set to daytime.
The colors of the characters are just color-picked to the original poster. Actually, it is the startup wings. Later on in the game, you can customize your wings. I put another layer on top for the shadowing.
I already have default brushes downloaded on the asset store. I usually just use two to three brushes and combine them all to create a fluffy cloud. Sometimes, I copy my own layer from another art to save time. These clouds are copied from my other art. I just tweaked them to fit the vibe of this art. I used a lot of smudging and blending of those sharp edges of the clouds.
The temples are Items downloaded from the asset store. I just copy and pasted one temple to two more. I put them side by side and merged all the layers. I clipped on some airbrushed black and white.
The mantas are easy to make. Just think of a sting ray and make them large. 🤣 I put some shadowings and lighting for depths.
I used a gouache brush for the islands I just randomly make shapes that looks like islands. I airbrushed dark blue for the shadowing. On top, I added some structures like temples. I added some glowing circles for added details.
Final Art
I added more rays of glow on the bottom of the character. Those birds are for fillers on the blue canvas so that it will not be that much empty. I do not know what that glowing circle in the game called is, but it is the one that guides me to the next mission. I just made a circle with four lines, put it to blur, and add glow. The final touch is the morning stars. Not that much to look at but helps in filling dead spots.
Sky Stickers
I made stickers before so this process is easy for me. 🥳 I just chose parts of the art that I think it is nice to make into a sticker. I just copy-paste them into one layer. I made a blue border to have a guide in cutting.
I am happy that it turned out nice, hehe. Next time, I will show the finished printed product. 😁
