I chose Queen Nectar for this week's challenge. 🐝
Art Process
On a blank canvas, I drew an oblong shape for the body and then a circle for the head. I again drew four oblong shapes and fixed them to look like wings. It kind of looks like a cockroach, for now, 😆 but it will have more details later on the lineart. For lineart, I used a solid pencil brush. Bees have fuzzy hair so I drew a lot of curve lines rather than straight. I put more details on the wings with divisions on it.
I colored the wings with the lightest blue. Originally, I want to make a solid color, but it looks better when it is translucent. The body of the bee at the back of the wings is still visible. I chose a yellow color close to the color of mustard. For the face and legs, I chose a black color with a green
undertone.
On top of the yellow base, I clipped another layer for the black stripes. On the wings, I airbrushed a dark purple, just on the inner part. I outlined the body with orange and the wings with purple and set it to 20 percent opacity.
Final Art
Another layer on top of the body for the shadowing. I chose green color and set it to 20 percent opacity. I added blue and green on the legs and the body. The sunflowers are downloaded brush, just for extra element. 🌻🐝 Lastly, layered a noise monochrome for texture.
