I have been wanting to draw Tarsa like~ she was one of my picks when I was just starting to join contests on Splinterlands. Welp, the perfect time has come! š
The original card
I am feeling like she has the spirit of a fire Goddess fox. š Her clothing is very simple, just puff sleeves and a plaid skirt.
I miss sketching chibis, actually! š Chibi style has a bigger head than the body. In Japanese, chibi means short, or in the anime world, cute. š
I found a cute pose for this art on Pinterest. I will change the facial expression of course. š Like I mentioned, Tarsa has very easy clothing. I first sketched using a thicker pen and then proceeded with a thinner, solid pencil. The pen I used for the eyes is thicker and has a different pressure setting.
Since we already have the lineart, we can now remove the sketch. See, it is cleaner and clear now. š I chose a cyan blue-ish green for the background. I am feeling a Summer vibe lately so most of my art is colorful or happy. š
I color-picked the base color from the original art. I have to adjust Tarsa's hair because I am not sure if it is red or orange, hahaha. The clothing and inner shirt's colors are easier to identify.
In the original art, Tarsa has only a sclera. But, since this is a chibi, I want to emphasize the expression in the eyes. The color of the iris is yellow with hints of orange. I just leave the pupil's color black just to balance the colors.
Next, The plaid skirt is just lined and I used the mesh trans to not make the lines stiff, and also to put dimensions. I made the lines close together in the waist, and make them flowy on the edge of the skirt. I added shadows of the clothing to make depths. I just copy pasted the first set and recolored it to green.
For the shadowing of the hair, I started with the center and then outward. I used a softer brush and blend them well. Another later on top for the hair's highlights. Same for the skin, a darker color of brown and blend together.
FINAL ART š«
It was hard making the fire. š¤£ I think I made three tries just to be satisfied. I manually drew the flames first. I clipped on another layer for the yellow glows. I blurred them a bit and added more glow to the arms and hair.
The background was the fun part! āØ I just used the Text tool and typed "Tarsa" and then copy paste them. Put them in a folder, and copy and paste again to make the yellow-green "Tarsa".
Tadaaa~! Finished chibi art of Tarsa! š„³āØ
