Achoo! š° I am not feeling well since last night. Hmmmm. I am taking my meds so worry not. š I think it was the combination of the weather and what I ate (something sweet). Anyway~ That is just a little update about me. I hope you are well!
For this week's entry, Let's try to be a little spooky. š» Have you ever heard of the boogeyman? Boogeyman is a scary fictional creature to scare kids when they misbehave. The image is somewhat monstrous and slender.
Skecth time~
In my art concept, I am thinking of a guy with a long sinister smile and a long face. He is in a tattered cloak, hiding in the shadows. His eyes glow prying into the darkness. He's got those long fingers with eyes sticking out. In the background are red eyes lurking in the shadows.
For the face, I used a symmetrical ruler. I drew the jaw, neck, eyebrows, and eyes. This is a great aid when the character is facing straight.
The character is a mythical and scary creature and so, most of the colors would be in the shade of darks. For the cloak, I just started off with gray, and then black for the hands and inners of the cloak. The face is a bit of a reddish undertone in gray.
The background is black with red clouds which I blurred a little bit. I just made the folds of the cloak by applying darker color to the base. I colored the eyes and mouth red, just like the original art. I already added the eye details on the hands.
Eyes, eyes, baby~ š¤£ Originally, I was thinking of drawing the whole eyes including the eyelids, but decided to just draw the eyeball. Since the boogeyman has eyes all over his body, I want to put that in the background. I added a red glow to the back of the neck just for added detail.
In the right picture, I break the eyes on layers. I used about six layers here including the clippings. To make it simple, I represent them in three parts. First, the white of the eyes. I used an off-white color and then used airbrushed for the blood shots. I used a g-pen for the red veins. The iris is a dark red color and then put some dark shadows below. Lastly, the black pupil. I also swatched the colors I used.
Final Art~ š
I kind of amplified the mixture of red and black on the background. I like the part of some eyes are small and they are kind of just hiding. Added a glow on the eyes to make it creepier. I added two floating eyes as if moving. I blurred it out to express motion.
Tadaa~ Finished art! š„³š
