Ahh~ I feel full of energy this week because I had a relaxing and refreshing long holiday! I feel like my brain was rewired! 🤩 Usually I post my entry on Thursday or Friday~ If you want to know my getaway, you can read it here.
For this week, I chose Celestial Harpy! 🌌
Originally, I was planning to make a male harpy. It would be interesting to see a male version. But I think this card is really fitted for a female, hehe~ Immediately I thought of the colorful festival of Barbados. The festival is called Cropped Over. Look here! So cool, right?
I used a different color for the sketch so that it is easier to separate the elements. I found this a simple pose for the character. Later on, I will add those lush feathers. The skin color is somewhat unsaturated brown with a red undertone. I already drew the face, usually, I drew this in the mid-final part. 😁
The head is a mess right now😆 I made the eyes extra by putting purple eyeshadow and eyelashes. All right ~ time for the costume! Before putting them together, I browsed pictures of how feather spreads. I just want the feathers to look organically placed. The brush is downloaded on Clip Studio Asset for free. Typing right now made me realize that the color is blueish purple, haha.
The shadows made all the definitions on the skin. The abs reference? Of course, not mine. 🤣 I wish it was mine, haha! I used a red undertone of darker brown for the shadowing. I like how the leg part turned out. I also put some blush on the cheeks.
I then added the wings and the headdress. The headdress is a bit of a mess. Sometimes I accidentally do the shadowing on the base color, which is why it looks like that.
Getting there~ See, with the help of shadow, the feather had dimensions. Also, I put purple highlights. The glitter made the character looks like a Victoria's Secret model. 🤣 I thought it added more detail to the character. I used a combination of purple, blue, magenta, and white.
Final Art
Actually, I am thinking back and forth if I make a shadow that is against to the light source on the character. I ended up doing it anyway, but actually still torn, haha! Well, both look okay to me. In the background, I made the light source more intense. I added blue translucent feathers for details~
Tadaaa~ Finished art! 🌌🐦
