Hello, everyone!
I just want to greet Splinterlands happy 6th year! 😊 I discovered SPL two years ago, the same as when I started to blog here. Happy to be part of art contests and social media challenges.
I got the third place this time. 😁 If you want to join the contest, feel free to see it here.
For this week, I choose Fire Imp. 🔥
Art Process
The first is to have a rough sketch of the pose. I had to look for a bat wing for reference. It should be also specific to the angle. I opted for short hair to give exposure to the wing.
Now, applying the base colors on separate layers. I used a low saturated red for the skin and then later on, will render with a darker shade. I worked on the eyes first to get the expression. I then gave shades on the hair and skin.
Adding more layers of shadows, especially on the inner on the wing and ear. I then put the second wing at the back by copying the shape of the front wing. To make the character glowy, I clipped a layer in color dodge mode. I used a flat brush and a smudge brush for the highlights.
Final Art
The background is just a simple dark red gradient color. I put a texture to give a dark atmosphere. I set the textured image in 5 percent opacity. Lastly, I put some speck details.
Finished art! ✨
