For this week's contest, I chose Khazi Fire Mage to draw in my art style. Also, see the list of winners and the mechanics to join here.
Art Process
I sketched a simple pose using a colored layer. I then used a brush with soft end for the lineart. I kept erasing some parts as I don't particularly appreciate how it turned out. Patience is the key for some days, I guess, haha. I then added the thin lines for extra detail.
I used a solid brush to color the blank spaces. Coloring and erasing the edges is I think the most consuming time for me. I could have used the fill bucket tool but the output is not that great. If any artist there who can suggest a quicker way to fill spaces, let me now. Next, I used a hard airbrush for the rendering. I sometimes double render to give the corners a darker shade.
More shadows to emphasize the shadows. I used the smudge tool to soften the hard edges. Here, I used different shades of brown to show the 3d-ness of the skin itself.
Final Art
For the final stage, I used a fire brush that was downloaded from the asset store. Copy and paste the layer and put the pasted layer into glow dodge. Those little specks of fire are a downloaded brush as well. I used airbrush for the orange glows on the skin. Finally, masking the canvas with a textured layer.
