“Brittle Battalion Battles Barbiturates” by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

in #hive-1586943 years ago

[Editor’s note: Mr. Yates, the so called “Holy Fool,” typed this piece yesterday, but then he fell into a deep sleep and forgot to post it. We hope this warping of space / time / reality isn’t too unsettling for you folks! Let’s continue…]

Hey folks! It’s Friday (from my perspective), and that means only one thing!!! I just don’t know what that one thing is… It’s also Friday, the 13th, which is fun. (I watched most of those movies when I was younger. I think I was 8 or 9 when the first one came out – I can check… It was 1980, so I was 8!) Neat! (I’m not particularly superstitious, so I’m not “frightened” by the number 13. In fact, I tend to like the number. It IS prime, after all!)

So… Below, I’m going to share some artz, both stuff that I made AND stuff that I’ve collected! Cool, right?

Let’s go…

"Weary, But Surviving"

[Digital drawing created on my phone.] This almost-self-portrait adequately expresses my current state of being. Tiredness. Still kicking, but not as high as I used to!

Here’s a fun little sumpin-sumpin! I sent my good friend, Mr. O., a bunch of drawings, and he sent me back THIS piece with one of the images stuck, “Wanted Poster” style, to the top!!!

Ha! For any would-be-bounty hunters out there. I wouldn’t advise going after Jimmy. (Not much money in it!)

Thanks for the laughs, Mr. O.!!!

[Dry-erase pen on children's workbook with digital embellishments and color tweaking.] Happy FRIDAY THE 13th!!!

"Stick It to the Man"

[Felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] Get it? Stick - Man... (Ha!) (Technically, I am a grandpa, so it's okay for me to tell grandpa jokes...)

"Supercrap"

[Digital drawing created in MS Paint on my ancient laptop.] I mentioned something recently (I think on Tweeterz, but my memory is terrible), about spending some time creating the most terrible, bad, junky art that I could think of. I don't think this captures RAW terribleness, but it's an early attempt at horrible work. I'll keep trying...

"Baby, I'm a Star"

[Digital drawing created on my phone.] This is another piece in my "REALLY BAD" art experiment. It's pretty dang awful! Lot's of stuff to hate here! Ha! If I'm trying to make the absolutely worst art possible, there is quite a bit to learn from a drawing like this one!

Okay folks, now it’s time to talk about something important, and that something is ARTZ! If you are like me (and you OBVIOUSLY are), then you love art – but is that ENOUGH. Sure, loving stuff is great (when everyone consents), but sometimes you’ve got to put your money where your love iz. In this case, I’m referring to “COLLECTING.”

For a great many people, BUYING ART is something that rich people and institutions do, not normal humans. I have found, however, thanks to #CRYPTOART, that collecting from independent artists is not only affordable but easy, and DARE I SAY IT, even EXCITING!

In just the last few weeks, I have done quite a bit of collecting, particularly from the #Tezos chain (which, like the #Hive chain, has very low transaction few costs.) I’ve been VERY pleased with my recent finds! Here are some of the GOODIES I’ve grabbed…

I’m probably share more collected works in the near future! It’s fun collecting, and it’s great to share what I’ve collected so that other folks can have a chance to grab a piece or two by these artists!!!

Let’s end this thing with ONE MORE mint by me…

"Snake Cha Cha"

snake cha cha.png

[Felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color!] When dancing the cha cha, be sure to watch your footing! You don't want to stomp on any of THESE little guys! (The candy-striped ankle biter's fangs can be fatal within minutes, without the proper anti-venom! Luckily, the anti-venom is hot cocoa, so it's not that hard to find!)
