Hello Alien artists!
Machine learning technologies have already made significant in-roads into every aspect of modern life, many of which we are not even aware of because they are hidden in the background.
Although art and creativity, as an important part of the expression, was until recently the domain of the human mind alone, now everything is changing and turning upside down.
AI is also coming into artistic production and, of course, there are a lot of questions and uncertainties about what now?
There will certainly be changes, for now, it's the case that AI complements and improves artistic creation, but it's always the human who initiates an idea, and AI, based on what it has learned in hundreds of thousands and millions of cases, realizes that idea. We can of course discuss the quality.
The technology most used in artistic production is VQGAN and CLIP. These are two neural networks, VQGAN (Vector Quantized Generative Network) which can find similarities between two images, and CLIP (Contrastive Image Language Pretraining), which can find patterns between text and images. We use them together. Source.
Being fascinated by this subject, I started to try something out myself. Modern interfaces to AI technologies have become relatively simple (read - no need to have sophisticated hardware, learn AI by example, and be an experienced python programmer - this language is mostly used with OpenAI).
Some of my examples were where I used a photos of my own as a base and added a title and some keywords or just keywords and the technology found the objects (and colors) that best matched.
Each of these images has 5-10 keywords in the background. As I said before, the quality of this could be debated, but it's undoubtedly creative work that I have created using the most advanced technologies available today.
But no one knows for sure what will happen in the future. Maybe tomorrow we'll altogether be obsolete ... :) ๐
