Introduction
Hello everyone! For this week's Splinterlands Art Contest, I took a different approach in creating my entry. This kinda reminds me of Gastly of Pokemon GO in AR mode. I used to play this mobile game before the pandemic, roaming around the vicinity of our work office and our village to catch wild Pokemons. 🙂
Card Reference
Anyway, back to the topic, here is the reference card of my Splinterlands Art Entry for this week and inspired by Gastly of Pokemon GO in AR mode.
Drawing Process
In my previous entries, I am used to creating the outline directly on the digital canvass. But for this entry, I sketched first the outline using Pencil and Paper. I then traced the outline of the head, body and armlet using a Ball Pen. I took a picture with my phone and realized that it is still easier for me to create the outline using the traditional way.
Actually, my initial approach is to traced the outline of this sketch on a digital canvass and proceed on what I have been doing in my previous entries. But a thought came to my mind. Why not retain the original objects in the picture? And that's the point wherein a remember Pokemon Gastly in AR mode.
I used the color White for the base color of Screaming Banshee in Step 3. The white color already highlights the image after I applied it. I then applied gray color on her hair and add shadows on her dress in Step 4.
In Step 5, I used Black color for the base of the eyes, mouth and some holes in her hair and dress. And in Step 6, I added the details of the eyes.
Here in Step 7, I then applied colors to her hair tie or rope in her hair and I also applied colors to her armlet. In Step 8, I then applied color to her arms and on the thing that comes out from the hole in her head. I think that's a chunk of her real hair.😅 I also lowered the opacity of her arms and hair thingy to make her look like a real ghost or spirit.
After I finished on Step 8, the image looked dull, so I added some dividers as her background in Step 9. I don't want to add lots of details in her background because I think it will overwhelm the other objects in the image. I used two of my favorites colors for the divider, black and red. And in Step 10, I added the ball-like souls floating beside her.
And in Step 11, I added the logo of Splinterlands at the bottom left part of the image. And Oh! I forgot her sinister tongue, so added that in Step 12. I also added some highlights in her arms and hair. 😄
Output
And here is the final output. I think it turned out okay. 😅
